Relaxing days in the village

We really enjoyed our days in Daisy and in Fodele. Daisy is a real lovely place! We liked the look to the church from the backyard door, and we even enjoyed the pope's singing on Sunday mornings. The house is well equipped with everything needed, even a dishwasher and a washing machine. Fodele Beach is close enough to go there every day and to enjoy beach life and the lunch in plaitis taverna. It was a nice circle sitting there at Smoothy George's with Sandra, Joe, Helen, and Ken. George is an amazing person and he taught our son, how to perfectly make a greek coffee. Our special thanks to Ann and Peter, who always stayed in close touch and helped us to enjoy our stay. We hope to return one day! Manfred and Suzanne

A beautiful place to stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment situated in the beautiful village of Fodele. Our apartment was a very comfy home from home experience and provided everything that you could need. The Village has half a dozen Taverna's which offer amazing home cooked traditional food, the Locals are friendly, helpful and extremely accommodating to holiday makers . We would like to return to Crete one day and will recommend our experience to family and friends.

Very friendly people, clean property and a very strange island

The owners of the property are very friendly and helpful. We could always ask them and they had good tips for us. It is very family friendly and our kids had a good time at the pool and the nearby playground. The property is clean and well equipped. We just recognize that we won't become fans of Crete. A lot of plastic everywhere and some strange culture habits like shooting whis machine guns to celebrate weddings on the weekend.

Most relaxing holiday ever

Fodele is probably the most relaxing holiday destination We have ever visited. This really is a gem of a place, just touristy enough to have good restaurants and bars but not over commercialised or noisy. Everything is within a lovely 2-5minute stroll of Mandarin Grove (if you can tear yourself away from the poolside which is set amongst the most beautiful scenery). Paul and Angie really look after everything and ensure you have no worries during your stay. We stayed in Daisy, a lovely, clean, well appointed cottage, which has wifi, to video, and all modern kitchen appliances. Some nights we cooked fresh local produce (got to try the cheese and the lamb) but most of the time was spent being entertained by Smoothie George..the guy really knows how to make people feel welcome, and his wife Eva whose cooking is just fantastic. We are a family of 3 with a 12 year old daughter and there was just enough to keep everyone entertained for a fortnight. Plenty to do and see nearby...lovely beach at Fodele Beach with tavernas who let you while away the hours on their sun loungers in exchange for buying refreshments from them (at ridiculously affordable prices). But don't just take my word for it...book it and see for yourself.

A place to recharge our 'batteries.'

A week of bliss, wonderful haven hidden away from the hustle and bustle of life. A chance to recharge the batteries. Apartment was beautifully furnished and maintained. Couldn't fault any of the restaurants, all were so friendly, as was the local people.

A piece of heaven, away from it all.

As always, a wonderful stay. Fodele is the place to be if you want a calm, peaceful holiday, but with adequate tavernas, a nearby beach and a pool at the apartments. The Manager & his wife, Angie always make you welcome and are always on hand. The apartment has been recently refurbished to a high standard and we were so impressed at our last visit, that we have booked three weeks for 2015. Always a home from home.

Holiday without the tourists

This villa and the surrounding pool is maintained to a very high standard - the couple who manage the property are on hand to answer questions and ensure everything is working. The thing that is so lovely is that it is only 100 metres from tavernas - but hidden behind trees and enclosed. I liked never having to feel I had to get my " towel on a sunbed"...always plenty - and being able to wander back to the villa without having to pack everything up. The local tavernas are econimocal to eat out at all the time and staff (smoothy George) are welcoming. The local bakery is really close too and worth a walk every morning for fresh bread. Hire a car and just go to explore!

Modern house in quaint village

Daisy is a lovely compact house with plenty of terraces and balconies to sit in either the sun or shade dependant on your preference ours was to sit on the bedroom balcony at night and watch the night sky as we discussed the days events while sharing a night cap and listening to the sounds of the local animals. Or you may choose to lounge by the pool which sits near the entrance of this secluded and secure group of 4 houses and 4 flats The property is well maintained and kept spotlessly clean by the friendly management team of Paul and Angie who will take great delight in looking after you throughout your stay with useful tips and information. It’s a pleasant short stroll across the river into the centre of the idyllic village with it’s many Tavernas and friendly locals who will all welcome and greet you with open arms. All serve good simple dishes or if you give them prior notice most will provide a more extravagant dish - try Domenico [Smoothie George] , Father and Son or El Greco’s. If you are lucky your stay may coincide with a local wedding which if you can last the pace will provide an entertaining evening long into the wee small hours. While there we celebrated our grand daughters birthday with a party at Smoothie’s who provided a sumptuous birthday cake and refreshments for our new found friends as we danced and partied into the early hours. From Fodele a short drive will take you to the many other beautiful locations - try Malia beach, before the teenagers wake up, Balli [Mpali] with its different beaches, or Georgioupoli and it’s scenic mountain lakeside. If you are there with kids you should take a day pass out at the local water park which is part of Fodele Beach Hotel. A nominal charge of 80 euros, which covers the cost of all drinks snacks and ice creams throughout the day for 2 adults and 2 kids will provide an enjoyable day out. We look forward to returning one day soon.
