Relaxing Cedar Log Cottage on Bras d'Or Lake over 300 Ft Private Beach & Kayaks

Cedar Escape on the Bras d’Or Lake is set in a breathtakingly beautiful location, situated right on the shores of the Bras d’Or Lake on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Our cottage is nestled in approximately 4 acres of spruce and birch, offering fantastic views of the lake with over 300 feet of private lake frontage, which is only about 100 feet away from the front door. Enjoy your own private lakeside retreat at your leisure.

Our stunning cabin can comfortably accommodate up to 11 guests. Making it ideal for families and larger sized groups. (For example 2 small families).

Relax on our wrap-around deck, and soak in the peaceful views and sounds that the lake has to offer. Take advantage of the surrounding natural beauty with activities such as fishing, hiking, or kayaking. Be sure to bring your camera or binoculars, as you’ll be surprised to see all of the beautiful wildlife that surrounds our paradise. For birdwatchers there is a spot that we named, “bird island”, which can be seen overlooking the Lake where you’ll find plenty of beautiful seabirds.

What makes us stand out from the rest?

Unlike many popular rentals out there, we offer free use of our kayaks. All we ask is that you recognize that you use these at your own risk and it is your own responsibility to ensure proper safety measures are used e.g. lifejackets are used whilst on any watercraft. All we ask is that you replace any items that are lost or damaged items.

We also provide free firewood for both indoor, and outdoor usage. Want to enjoy a nice cozy responsible fire if it’s cold inside the cottage? Or would you prefer to have a beautiful bonfire for the family? You won’t find a price tag associated with it here!

Golfers - There is a beautiful golf resort only minutes from our paradise. You will find the Dundee Golf Resort and all of their amenities only a short drive away. Here you will find an 18-hole course with some of the most beautiful views in Cape Breton along with a full service restaurant.


During your stay you will have access to all three floors of our cottage with the exception of a part of the basement (the room with the yellow sheet is hung at the entrance along with the shelves at the bottom of the stairs that have some important maintenance items). There are some personal items that we ask to be left alone for now there, along with our motorboat, as it is in need of some repair-work from previous extreme weather events we had last year. Everything else is free to use as you please. We want you and your family to feel completely at home during your stay with us.

Our cottage consists of three levels and boasts a total of five bedrooms and 2 bathrooms:
The lower level there is a bunk-room that has two bunkbeds which can sleep 4 children. The main floor there is a master bedroom with a king-sized bed, that can accommodate 2 adults. Finally, Upstairs we have a total of 3 bedrooms. One of the bedrooms has a twin/double sized bed which can easily accommodate an adult or child, and the other two bedrooms have queen sized beds, which can accommodate 2 persons each. The Upstairs Master Bedroom boasts a stunning and breathtaking view of the lake.

Your rental will include WiFi, a beautiful HD Smart TV to watch Netflix on - which is included, a fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen for your convenience. In the basement, we have a laundry room. You are more then welcome to use our washer and dryer without fee’s attached. All we ask is that you do not change any settings on our TV without permission. There is a guest WiFi account for you to connect your devices on, and a guest Netflix account/TV account for you to use for your convenience. We will include this information with any bookings prior to arrival.

Please Note - As with most, if not all, lake-front cottages there are insects that will be flying around occasionally. Most notably at night, especially if light-sources are attracting them. We suggest bringing your own insect repellent to help combat these little buggers. 


Please also keep in mind that Cell Phone services are extremely limited at our location. We highly suggest enabling wifi calling on your cell phone prior to arrival.
