The cottage is beautiful and rustic with amazing artwork and the best views over Matauri Bay and the Cavalli islands. Very private and perfect for our 2 french bulldogs. They loved the property and the freedom of their own space in an idilic location. Smart tv, washer and dryer plus a massive shower. Our host Teresa was so friendly even helped us with a flat battery in our car. Highly recommend 5 stars

Super Peaceful

It's crazy quiet... and the beds are soo comfortable. I'd have loved a wee bit more water pressure in the shower mind.. though in the scheme of things not a biggy. Loved the dogs too.

Excellent Stay

We had a fantastic time at the Matauri Bay Shearers Cottage. The property was nice, private and quaint and just as advertised. A short walk to the pub and diary and a short drive to the beach. The hosts (both the two legged and four legged kind) were very welcoming. Would definitely love to come again. Thanks!!

Cute and quirky

Good but not great. It is an old cottage but was missing some luxuries for the price. The house is colourful, comfortable and clean and the hostess made everything easy.

Matauri dreamtime

Colourful painted exterior reflects an interior hung with the artist owner’s and others artworks and furnished with upcycled decor. It’s Dreamtime in the hammock on the deck with azure skies and aquamarine balustrades wrapped with emerald tecomanthe vines. Paddocks with sheep and a pond all surrounded by tons of native planting, it’s gorgeous. It’s not all smick and contrived, it’s honest and homely and super comfy. We took our dog who loved meeting and playing with owner’s dog. Far enough away from the bay to tempt you to laze and read, then make the beach(s) visits a worthwhile trip. This is a place that’ll get better year on year.

We had the best stay in this magical cottage. Private and beautiful surroundings.. great location with beaches nearby. Teresa and Pierre were so lovely and welcoming and the cottage had everything we needed. Our doggos also had a great holiday hanging with their new buddy Zane. Can't wait for our next visit!

Lovely little cottage

Lovely little cottage

Beautiful view out to the Cavalli Islands. Well equipped kitchen with everything we needed for preparing meals. The shower has great pressure and the beds were comfortable. Only 5 mins down to the beach and there is also a little shop/ takeaways minutes away. Teresa the host was so friendly and helpful. Would love to come again.

This is one of the beautiful places we ever stayed. The views are spectacular and the surroundings were calm. It felt so peaceful. Matauri bay was only 5 mins drive and it made it so easy to enjoy. My children fell sick and Teresa and family were so kind and shared some pamol with us. Teresa and Pierre are such a lovely hosts who were welcoming and warm. We loved it and had a great family holiday. We definitely give it 5 🌟 🤩 ⭐️ 🌠 💫 🌃

Wonderful owners to deal with. We loved our stay. Beautiful part of the world with stunning beaches nearby. Comfortable bed. Great to be able to have our dogs inside with us. Keen to go again sometime.

Very relaxing spot

Quiet cottage overlooking cavalli islands and beautiful farmland. We heard Kiwis in the evening from the awesome verandah! Nice and close to beaches and coastal walks. great hosts we will be back

Great hosts and wonderful bach

A really well modernised bach on a lovely family farm. Felt private and had everything you could want in an escape to the coast. Thank you for having us, we really enjoyed being able to shoot down the road to the beach and the extra advice on where to launch the kayaks. Loved all the artistic touches, we would love to come again...
