I’ll put the punch line right up front – if this property were managed better, it would easily be 5 stars. But unfortunately, VACASA and the homeowner are not managing this property to 5-star levels.
Pool & Hot Tub
You’d better be an expert at pool system management before renting this property because you will get no help from VACASA. First of all, you would expect the system to be turned on and heating up upon your arrival. Not the case. Both the hot tub and pool were 61 degrees upon arrival and the system wasn’t even turned on. First call to VACASA did at least help us turn the system on (circuit breaker switches and programming timer), but upon turning the system on, the hot tub drained, and pool overflowed with water. Luckily a neighbor walking by stopped to help. There were 2 other actuator switches that were turned the wrong direction. So that fixed 1 issue – a full hot tub.
But heating was a disaster all week. We set the heating unit to 104 for hot tub and 80 for pool. After increasing a few degrees, the heating unit would kick off and not turn back on. We called VACASA again and gave them the error code that was reading on the front of the unit. No return calls or technician visits. We called again the next day – no return calls or technician visits. We called again 2 days later and this time the rep said she was notifying the regional manager. Great, but still no return calls or technician visits. The last day of our 8-day stay, VACASA said they would give us a hot tub credit of - get this - $117. A slap in the face! And we clearly weren’t the only ones with issues. The comment notebook in the house had several previous renters that had significant pool and hot tub issues.
Kitchen
This listing states that the kitchen is fully stocked. Not even close! No glassware (that’s right, no water glasses), no standard cooking utensils, no pans to cook for more than 1 person, no bakeware like cookie sheets or baking pans, etc. This house sleeps 8 people, but has cookware that isn’t even sufficient for 1 person. Expect to eat out for EVERY meal, period! We raised this issue to VACASA as well on our first call early in the week. One rep said that because of COVID many owners went to bring your own plastic glassware (really?). Another rep said that this unit just wasn’t fully stocked yet. Just like the pool issue, we read back in the comment notebook, and many other previous renters commented on this.
