We stayed at this Mendocino cottage and overall had a pleasant experience. Check-in and check-out were very easy, and the host was responsive to questions during our stay. The location is convenient—right off the main road leading into Mendocino—and the view of the ocean is truly beautiful, which made mornings especially enjoyable.Pros:Easy and seamless check-in/check-outHost was responsive to concernsStunning ocean viewConvenient access to town and main roadQuiet and peaceful settingTexting and Wi-Fi worked wellCons / Areas for Improvement:Several parts of the cottage could use updatingShower height is not suitable for guests over 5'6"There are no interior doors separating living areas (except the bathroom), which impacts privacy—including during early morning calls while others are sleepingNo cell service (texting okay, but no incoming/outgoing calls)Kitchen amenities were lacking—no wine cork opener, no basic supplies like oil or saltThe stove appears new but the broiler did not work, which changed our dinner plans during a rainy eveningWould recommend future guests bring their own pantry basics and cooking essentialsWe come to Mendocino at least once a year and truly love the area. While the cottage is in a great location and offers a lovely coastal experience, some updates—particularly in regard to privacy and kitchen functionality—would make it a more comfortable stay.
