The interior of the One of A Kind (OOAK) art gallery in Micaville, NC. With a slogan of “fine, folk, and funky”, this place embodies Appalachian art and culture-- down to the very building it stands in. When Micaville was a mining town, this building was the general store. Through the years, the “Robinson General Merchandise” sign and painted windows have remained mostly untouched, which provides a unique and rare frame of this location through time. The new framed alongside the old emphasizes that Appalachia holds strong to tradition and legacy. #appalachianechoes
I chose this image to frame Appalachia because within it I see the stereotypical small community that appears to be run down and poor. This is the local barbershop, which is still operating by the way. I was shooting the picture to capture the beauty of the rainbow; however, what really caught my attention was the contrast within the image. The appearance of the rundown building and its surroundings, the wide array of crisscrossing power lines, and the slew of road signs pointing in different directions, against the backdrop of the rainbow and the mountain. #appalachianechoes

No me gusta eso de los 300 dólares de depósito que exigen y en el cierto no ay soca ni si llas y ese aire suena como como tren descompuesto ni deja dormir y el desayuno no ay nada bueno y ni el tostador sirve
