The pictures and description of this property are a very accurate representation of what you are renting. There were no surprises there (as we have had at other VRBO properties).
We found the location to be the best part of this property. We were looking for a long weekend getaway during the pandemic and this house fit the bill. It is in a very quiet low-key neighborhood with friendly residents. Broadkill Beach seems to have very few rules as far as what is allowed or not. Dogs are allowed on the beach. Fishing is allowed. And fires are allowed on the beach. We saw a variety of activities and everyone was respectful of each other and cleaned up after themselves.
This rental house is the first house closest to the beach. However because of the dunes, you actually don't have a water view from the house. The dunes also block some of the soothing sound as well. It is a very short walk to the top of the dune and then you are right at the water.
Regarding the house itself - the pictures on this listing are an accurate representation. It's a very dated house, but it was clean. The kitchen was decently stocked, but could use some things like measuring cups and other small kitchen items. The house itself would really benefit from some overall maintenance. The windows on the front patio room were difficult to open (and some starting to fall apart), the door on the ocean side of the house is locked due to no steps (this would be an amazing place for a patio to sit on!!), and the bathroom shower leaves a lot to be desired. I am not giving this rental a lower rating or less stars because the pictures show all of this and we knew what we were renting. Just some suggestions on how to improve the property!
Regarding the area - we had seen several things online talking about the awesome Broadkill Store just down the street. We had planned to stop there and grab a few supplies when we arrived at the house. Don't waste your time. The store has very little stock of anything. I hear they have good ice cream, but we didn't try it. Other than that though, don't plan on getting much from here - plan head and bring food/drink with you. It should also be noted, if you're not from Delaware, they have different liquor laws. You cannot buy beer/wine at the grocery or gas station. You must by it from a liquor store. Just a heads up!
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and we would definitely come back! The area is lovely!
