    6 The Poplars in Porlock is a recently refurbished mid-terrace cottage in beautiful Hawkcombe, providing a high standard of holiday accommodation for up to 4 guests in two double bedrooms over three levels. Pretty cottage gardens and pet-friendly.

    6 The Poplars in Porlock (Somerset) is tucked away in a quiet location just off the centre of the village and with excellent access to the footpaths, making it a great base for exploring this thriving Exmoor village as well as the surrounding countryside and coastline.

    The cottage is accessed via a footpath, shared between the terraced cottages, which runs along the front of the row. The entrance door opens into the sitting room at the front of the property, with pretty cottage windows overlooking the front garden. The kitchen is spacious, well-equipped and newly updated, and leads through to a dining area at the far end, with an exterior door leading to the rear garden. Off the kitchen is a utility room, and a downstairs toilet. The stairs lead up to the first floor where there is one double bedroom (king-size bed) and the family bathroom, comprising bath, separate shower unit, toilet and wash basin. Stairs lead up again to the second floor where the second double bedroom is located, with fabulous views over the cottage garden, and beyond over the local allotments and rooftops of the village to the coastline of Porlock Bay.

    Indoor Description
    The modern kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, hob and microwave. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of cookware and kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. The fridge-freezer and washing machine is located in the utility.

    A television is provided in the living room and wireless broadband is available throughout the property.

    The sitting room has an ornamental fireplace - this is not a usable/working fire, you must not light the fire.

    Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. The property is fitted with central heating throughout.

    Bed linen, duvets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips.

    Some tea, coffee and sugar is provided. There may also be other non-perishable items like salt, pepper, oil and some herbs or spices available.

    Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and surface cleaner will be present in the property. A small supply of toilet rolls will be provided.

    Outdoor Description
    The property is accessed via a footpath from the road, the footpath runs along the bottom of the gardens at the front of the properties. The footpath is shared with the other cottages in the row. The rear garden is larger than the front garden and accessed via the door from the dining area, step across the footpath which runs the length of the terrace and into the private garden which includes a bistro table and chairs for making the most of the outside space. The gardens are not enclosed as the footpath leads along to the other properties on either side.

    From the cottage it's a short walk into the village (approx 0.25 mile) where there is a selection of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants.

    Parking
    There is no allocated parking for 6 The Poplars, but there is free road-side parking on the road. There are also two Pay and Display Car Parks in the village if preferred.
    Note, it is not possible to pull up outside the cottage as it is only accessible via footpath. It is about 50 metres on foot from pedestrian gate.

    Pets Description
    One well-behaved dog welcome for supplement of £20. Please do not leave your pet alone in the property at any time.

    The property is spread over 3 levels and is unlikely suitable for anyone with limited mobility.

    The region

    Porlock is a historic village on the edge of Exmoor National Park in Somerset, in a sheltered vale between the moor and the Bristol Channel coast. Its heritage stretches back to Saxon times.



    The meandering High Street is lined with independent shops, including a traditional butcher, chemist, hardware shop, post office, two convenience stores, art galleries, a chocolate shop, and a cash machine. Most shops keep hours of 9am to 5pm, often extending during the summer season.



    The harbour hamlet of Porlock Weir is approximately one mile to the west and makes a lovely walk or a short drive. There you will find a 15th-century tidal harbour, a pub, restaurants, cafes, and independent shops and galleries.



    Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 6 miles away. Here you will find larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrisons on the outskirts with longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, and a range of other shops. EV charging points are available at Porlock Central Car Park.
