  • Great fishing! Large one bedroom Mother-in-law apartment located 20 minutes West of Minneapolis. Bedroom has direct access to the deck. Spacious kitchen/dining room, living room with large windows providing a gorgeous view of the lake. Private entrance, 2 full baths and laundry. Huge deck facing the lake. 1500 acre park across the street with hiking trails, golf course and swimming beach.

Wonderful

The experience was peacful and perfect for my needs. One of the highlights is the beautiful bird sanctuary overlooking the lake.

Great Stay

The house was very clean and nice. The owner Larry was extremely helpful and nice. On our last day there, we had boat trouble. Larry brought out his tools and was helping us get everything fixed. We had a great stay.

Cozy MIL Quarters at the Lake

Larry was extremely accommodating. There were a couple of items that needed to be fixed throughout my 2 week stay, and Larry had them fixed immediately. It is a quiet, serene location with direct access to the lake. Highly recommend!

AMAZING HOME AWAY FROM HOME!

I cannot say enough! This place overlooking the lake had absolutely everything one would need! Clean, spacious, comfy, perfect location !! Other than the food items we purchased, everything and I do mean everything was provided!! Owner very gracious !!:) Would stay here again in a heartbeat!! LOVED IT!!

Pleasant get away

The apartment was very comfortable and clean. The best part of it was the view from the deck are seeing the lake and the birdfeeders with the number of various birds that came to feed. The manager Larry put out new birdfeeder every day so we can enjoy the colorful array of birds. The location of 42 and escape from the city but driving into the Twin Cities was not difficult at all so you could have the best of both worlds.

Exactly What We Were Looking For

Great communication with owner. He made sure we had everything we needed. Location was wonderful. Beautiful view of the lake. Pleasantly surprised by the roominess. Target was just a few minute drive for groceries/snacks. I was worried that my kids were too noisy during their nightly Monopoly games but owner said we did not disturb him at all. If you are looking for a "rustic" hotel alternative, this is your place.

My Brother and I had a lovely time. Larry indicated that a pillow was missing from the day bed. Neither my Brother or myself removed any pillows from the property. Unfortunately, we did not count the pillows when we arrived.

Wonderful rental in a wonderful location

I am a repeat renter at this site and it never disappoints. Cozy rental with great views and perfect location. Host is gracious, helpful, and answers questions quickly.

Fun for all!

We had a great time husband got to fish and also close enough to the Mall of America for some fun kid stuff. The beach and park is great! Larry was awesome!

A little German away

We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday by being someplace close to home; but not too close. My husband enjoyed fishing off the dock and relaxing on the deck with a beautiful view of the lake.

Amazing get away

We had such a great stay. Good fishing. Beautiful view. Larry is very kind and has a great property to vacation at. We needed this little get away so bad and had such a relaxing/fun time. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice quiet place to unwind

We only had a short stay but we definitely enjoyed the proximity to hiking and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

Spectacular view and space

Lovely spacious lake view apt, overlooking lake, attached to the house, but sufficiently private with access to the deck and close to great hiking area, Baker Reserve, restaurants and short easy drive from city. The kitchen was well stocked with ample kitchen table and dining table on deck as well. The one improvement would be a new mattress in the bedroom. However the mattress on the trundle bed was very comfortable.

Lake Independence in MN

Larry was an excellent host. He greeted us upon arrival and departure. And he offered great recommendations for dining in the area. And we really enjoyed the great view from the large deck.

Great break at the lake!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Lake Independence. Larry had a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the kitchen table upon our arrival. The apartment had everything we needed. We spent a lot of time down by the lake watching the boats and had an Eagle fly over several times. We would recommend the property for anyone that wants time away from the cities.

Relaxing lake-side stay

Clean, tidy, and cozy place to stay with a great view of the lake. Just a short walk to lots of trails (paved & unpaved) to get outdoors for a short or long walk; then able to return to impressively comfy recliners to relax and watch the birds (and TV). Would recommend for both sunny & rainy/snowy days. Larry was super easy to work with.

A very pleasant stay

My wife and I were looking for a place nearby with nice accommodations and lake view to celebrate her birthday for a couple of days. We have been hesitant in the past to rent a property that isn’t a house or private cabin, concerned that noise might be a problem, but on this occasion there was nothing to worry about. The large one-bedroom not only had all the comforts of home, but also offered more peace and quiet than we could have hoped for. Larry was kind enough to greet us upon our arrival, and was available if we had any problems or questions. We loved the recliners and flat screen T.V.’s (since it rained some during our stay) and the kitchen was very homey with every thing we needed. The large windows and deck offer a beautiful view of the lake, and some very nice walking trails are nearby that lead to a large park and boat launch area. We enjoyed the nearby restaurant/bar called “Iron Exchange” and a great little cafe called the Blackwater cafe. Even though we had only been there a couple of nights, it felt like we had a long vacation by the time we left, and we look forward to another stay in the future.
