Our property utilizes advanced solar energy systems to significantly reduce our carbon footprint while providing clean and - above all - reliable power. The frequent power outages of the sole Kenyan provider are irrelevant to us.

Biological Wastewater Treatment

We implement strict waste segregation (recycling and waste separation) on our 3,125 m² estate to promote sustainability in the Ukunda region and we ask out guests to follow our recommendations.

Based on our own experience and that of experienced agents, we can provide you with excellent support when booking safaris. In addition to the costs, it's also important to consider that some areas can only be reached by plane from Ukunda airport, while others can be reached by Land Cruiser. (Learn more below.)

Housekeeping
The apartment rental includes daily cleaning (including dishwashing). We use a steam cleaner for floors and glass surfaces, which kills almost all viruses and bacteria and requires no detergents. A washing machine is available in each apartment.

Safaris (more details)
There are a wide variety of safari options available. Prices depend primarily on the safari park and lodge you choose; options range from simple, budget-friendly choices to high-end luxury accommodations, with plenty of possibilities in between. Expert advice from a travel agency or safari operator is crucial here. We recommend an agent in Mombasa who has provided excellent guidance to many of our guests and offered the best prices; the organization of the trips was also outstanding.
Here are two popular tours that we experienced ourselves:
- A Land Cruiser trip from Diani Beach to Tsavo East, Tsavo West, and Amboseli National Parks, with an overnight stay in each. In our view, the downside is the significant amount of time spent driving on roads to get from one park to the next.
- A flight from Ukunda to the Masai Mara, including two or three nights at a lodge. This option gives you plenty of time for morning and afternoon wildlife viewing. The Masai Mara also features lush, green vegetation. We consider this area the absolute highlight.
Inside the parks, you travel in largely open vehicles that offer excellent views of the abundant wildlife. And we can guarantee one thing: when a full-grown lion walks right past your vehicle — close enough that you could reach out and touch it (though you certainly shouldn't) — it is an experience you will never forget.
