  • El Stonehouse es una casa rural independiente de 2 dormitorios convertida enclavado en la ladera con piscina privada y apartada terraza orientada al sur con vistas panorámicas a copas de los árboles hacia Portimão, donde el mar se puede ver brillando en el horizonte, sin embargo, está a sólo minutos de la pintoresca mercado del pueblo de Monchique ofrece todos los locales amenites, restaurantes, cafeterías y bares, con la ventaja añadida de ser sólo 25 minutos en coche de las playas de la costa sur, o 35 minutos de las playas de la costa oeste más aisladas y pintorescas.
    El Stonehouse ofrece confort, espacio, carácter y tanta soledad como usted desea. Restaurantes y bares tradicionales están a pocos minutos en coche o hacer uso de la barbacoa de piedra en la terraza o en la cocina totalmente equipada.
    Entrando por la cocina a la amplia sala de estar con mesa de comedor, 4 sillas de comedor, sofá, sillas de brazo 2, TV, reproductor de CD y estufa de leña se puede seguir disfrutando de la vista panorámica.
    Junto a la cocina totalmente equipada, que cuenta con cocina de un completo eléctrica, nevera, microondas, cafetera, plancha y tabla es un dormitorio con capacidad para 2 personas adicionales, ya sea como un doble, doble o individual.
    En la planta baja se encuentra el dormitorio de matrimonio (cama de 5 pies de ancho) y baño (bañera con ducha sobre la bañera) WC y lavabo, también alberga una lavadora. Todas las ventanas de la planta baja están equipadas con mosquiteros.
    Al otro lado de la terraza es una pequeña piscina privada, ideal para refrescarse en los días soleados gloriosamente caliente! o simplemente relajarse y disfrutar de la vista a la sombra del olivo,
    Una mesa de patio, sombrilla, 4 sillas, 3 tumbonas y barbacoa de piedra se proporcionan. Jardines en terrazas con línea wasing. Ubicación en la ladera aislada, con unas vistas impresionantes.
    Para los meses de invierno se proporcionan radiadores de aceite llenos.
    Hay un servicio de limpieza semanal

Nestled in peace

The property is set over looking the southern coast and picturesque mountain range. It’s the perfect place for a calm and peaceful stay. The house has all the amenities including a pool.

Perfect getaway

Great location, great house, pool and terrace. Amazing views. Everything you need for a relaxing stay away from the masses. Good for exploring other places too. Excellent food in Monchique. Excellent communication with the owners.

A lovely villa with a pool, situated in a tranquil location offering stunning panoramic views. While the house is charming, it could benefit from some furniture renovations, especially in the bedrooms, and the addition of air conditioning for the summer months.

In one word : lovely ! If you like to live secluded in the nature this place is just perfect. Located in the heigths of the sierra with a peaceful view, on a peaceful road. The night is fresh and windy. We where a family of 4 (with two teenagers) Our teenagers survived of the "No Wi-fi" feature, connecting with nature, calm and some board games availables at the house. During the days we were at the beaches or visiting cities around in the beautiful Algarve, but finishing our days at the Stonehouse, in the pool, with the view, surrounded by the cozy and dry mountains. Near from very good typical Portugeze restaurants and from the small city of Monchique with a supermarket the quiet Stonehouse is well located. It's easy... One week is not enough, it was very hard to leave this paradise... We encountered a small issue with an equipment, but the wonderful and very kind Ana (the local responsible) took care of us.

Ich war mit meiner Mutter für 14 Tage an diesem schönen Ort. Ein gemütliches, einfaches Steinhaus mit einer Terrasse und einem wunderbaren Pool. Der einzigartige Blick und die Ruhe ist besonders hervorzuheben. Hier kann man wirklich abschalten. Das Haus hat alles was man braucht und in der Umgebung findet man viele Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Ideal für auch für Wanderer. Die Kommunikation mit den netten Vermietern war zu jederzeit perfekt und wirklich schnell. Ich würde es wieder buchen.

Perfect peaceful retreat in the hills though with a short car journey close enough to enjoy beautiful Algarve beaches, towns and attractions. The Stonehouse was comfortable for the three of us and exactly as described in the listing. Really appreciated all of the thoughtful information containing all the information you could ever need to know about the house, Monchique, beaches, restaurants and places to eat (and much more! We were there in a heatwave, so not having a/c took some adjusting to, thankfully the fans and natural ventilation made it bearable and of course the pool gave us a lovely & well needed respite from the heat. We spent every evening out on the patio area, joined by lizards and listening to the birds singing. We saw a tawny owl, European bee eater which were firsts for us. Good mobile signal, though no WiFi which definitely encouraged us to make use of scrabble & Yahtzee provided! Ana Paula, is lovely and on hand to help with any issues and did a clean and topped the pool up once while we were there. All on all we had a lovely week, Obrigado!

Stone House Stay - Late July 2025

It was the idyllic Country House stay in the Portuguese hills with amazing views from the Lounge and Terrace that were magical. The House is very tradition giving you that feeling of an escape to another world and time. We enjoyed having a meal and wine on the terrace while looking at the amazing views and the flora that abounds. Access via the local roads is good and there is parking right next to the house and minimal local traffic passing making for a very quiet ambience. Everything you need is provided, plus amazingly well researched and presented information folders about the area, which make for great reading and tips. Monchique and nearby localities have much to offer, we stayed 4 nights and could have stayed another couple.

I left my heart in Monchique

The Stone House, lovingly owned by Mark and Sharon was a step back in time. The stone structure, while I suspect it was built many years ago still had all of the modern conveniences you would want.This well appointed home was set in the mountains and we were able to step out of modern chaos and truly relax. The gardens, the pool and the outdoor patio set the stage for a lovely glass of vhino verde and great conversation.Thank you Mark and Sharon for sharing your well-loved home with us! We will be back again if possible.

Quiet and peaceful

The property was exactly as described so there were no unexpected surprises. The property was in quiet peaceful location on a hillside with great views over the countryside all the way to the coast. The kitchen was well appointed with plenty of utensils. The pool was not large but was ideal and very welcome to cool off in during the day. Even the the house seemed remote the village of Monichique was only 10 minutes drive where there is a supermarket which has everything you need for you stay.There are restaurants and here too. Communications withe Mark and Sharon were fast and responsive.

The Stonehouse occupies a stunning location with panaramic views across the hills and down to the coast. Access to Monchique and its supermarket and restaurants is a matter of minutes and to south or west coast is only 30 or 40 minutes.The value is good too, at a considerably lower price than most properties in the area, but there are some compromises to be made: During our stay the pool filter didnt appear to be working so we had to use the net a lot to skim the surface. The microwve is temperamental and turned when it felt like it, but mostly it was the bed. At home we have an extra firm mattress but the one at the Stonehouse is so unforgiving we struggled to sleep, and the bed is noisy, each time one of us rolled over it woke the other up.Overall its a nice place to stay but does need a little tlc.

Sejour à Monchique

Points positifs : -Tres joli emplacement avec une superbe vue sur la montagne et mer. -Endroit calme. -Maison avec du caractere. -Documentations sur la region particulierement fournies. Points negatifs : -Check in sans presence physique (merci beaucoup à la dame qui nous a guide) pour 2 semaines de sejour. La 1ere fois que cela survient avec Abritel. -La chambre du 1er etage n'est pas equipee des rideaux necessaires pour une chambre à coucher. -La terrasse est en mauvais etat : transats en mauvais etat,eclairage manquant pour diner dehors. -La piscine ne permet pas de nager; c'est un bassin.

Emplacement idéal avec une vue à couper le souffleSur la côte de l’Algarve à l’horizon. Une terrasse très agréable pour dîner le soir même si malheureusement les conditions météorologiques n’étaient pas optimales durant notre séjour.

Melhor sitio para descansar

Adoramos a casa e a localidade, se o que precisavamos era estar isolados da vida de cidade, este foi sem duvida o sitio melhor que encontramos. A casa não tivemos grandes surpresas uma vez que as fotografias fazem jus a aquilo que é. O caminho é um bocadinho difícil de se fazer a noite pois não o conheciamos e por isso e algo assustador. Um grande obrigado Mark and Sharon

Excellent holiday property

This is a great property as described - the location is very peaceful and overlooks the hills down to the coastline. Has all facilities and equipment needed, whether it's a quiet stay or active holiday. Pool is plenty big enough for a quick cool down and the outside area is very useful. Monchique is close enough for a 10 minute taxi ride with several restaurants. We walked to a pizza place (around 20 minutes) but make sure it's before sunset! Highly recommended to stay here.

3 noites / 4 dias extremamente tranquilos

Foi uma passagem breve mas acertada. A localização da Stonehouse é encantadora. Tudo correu como esperado e até superou as expectativas. Casa limpa, espaços amplos, acessos fáceis (ainda que peculiares), silêncio, boa vizinhança (imperceptível), e uma “piscina” com a dimensão correcta. Fica a vontade de repetir! O nosso obrigada ao Mark & Sharon Alexandra, Sofia & María Laura

Gostei Muito

Casa muito agradável num sitio bonito e sossegado. Tem uma vista deslumbrante sobre a costa de Portimão e um céu nocturno ao mesmo nível em que, por ausência de poluição luminosa, se vislumbra a via láctea. Apenas senti falta de uma luz mais forte no quintal que permita refeições nocturnas e auxilie na churrasqueira. O bonito quintal, por ter muitos vasos com plantas (para além da maravilhosa oliveira), apresentava-se com muitas folhas caídas no chão e merecia outra apresentação. Nada que não tivesse ficado resolvido com uma boa mangueirada. Uma atenção especial aos sobreiros queimados por cima da piscina pois, num dia de um pouco mais vento, partiu-se um ramo que caiu dentro da piscina, onde não estava ninguém, por sorte. Deveriam abater todas as arvores queimadas que estão naquela encosta.
