Casa Guarumo. The cloud forest magical villa.

As the name describes it for itself, Monteverde is the definition of Green Paradise. It holds 2,5% of the world biodivertsity, and 10% of its species are endemic, which means that can only be found in this area.
This is Costa Rica’s magestic cloud forest, globally known for its absolutely stunning natural views and variety of wild life. This is world bird watchers and biologists favorite destination.
Our house is located in the heart of Monteverde, sorrounded by beautiful gardens and ancient trees, that make the perfect home for thousands of birds that will blow your mind with their brilliant colors and beautiful sounds.
In our house you can expect a very quiet environment, if you are looking for peace and connection with nature and with yourself, this is the place to be. Although we must warn that you can be entertained with some natural concerts of birds and exotic insects at some hours, and can expect visits of some animals typical from the area. For example a cute little tribe of monkeys that like to sit in our balcony some days… don’t worry, they are all friends! We love their visits and all the different sounds they give us because that means that our house is a natural temple, and thats exactly what a Monteverde experience is all about.
If you are wandering what to eat nearby, which of course is an important part of the experience, you can taste the Costa Rican typical food at its finest in Cooperativa Casem, a restaurant runned by local girls where breakfasts and lunchs are just amazing. Then there’s Stellas Bakery, where pastry is always fresh baked, the place is super cozy and all food in the menu is just delicious. For an unforgettable dinner, you must visit Tramonti, an italian restaurant thats not only very pretty, but pizza and pasta are to die for.
There’s also a cute coffee place where you can enjoy a capuccino and a banana cake when the afternoon just starts to get colder.
And if you are the ones that prefer to make food at home, there’s a grocery store with a great variety of products and our kitchen is fully eqquipped with everything you might need.
The best part of all of this, is that all of the business I listed before are just walking distance from our house.
Just some miles away driving, you will be in Santa Elena, the core and let’s say capital of Monteverde. Here you will find a lot of restaurants with different types of food, from typical Costa Rican food, to crepes, pizza, and even Sushi (we own Neko, the sushi restaurant in town) where you will be amazed of the fresh fish and good quality of sushi at very good prices we offer. Don’t forget to ask the discount we specially give to our lovely house guests!
Santa Elena is a very walkable town, full of mountain lifestyle, artisan shops and tour companies that offer the most amazing adventures you will live in a natural environment.
The largest zip lines of latin America are in Monteverde, so yes, Canopy is a must! Also if you want to walk in the top of the tres you should do the hanging bridges tours, views will be just breathtaking.
You can also do horseback rides, rent ATVS to explore around and visit the Curicancha natural reserve, well known for being the best preserved reserve of the country (it’s very close to our house). Another beautifull reserve just walking distance from our house is the Children’s eternal Cloud forest (I know, the name just makes you want to go).
You can enjoy day and night guided hikes in all reserves, where you will watch the beauty of nature in the most amazing way and you will learn a lot from all the species our cloud forest holds.
Monteverde offers a plan for all kind of people, if you are not the adventurous one that wants to do the superman on the top of the trees, you can go for a coffee tour, a chocolate tour, and even a cheese tour, where you will meet beautiful local people and learn a lot about them.
So days can be pretty busy in Monteverde, when you are tired just remember our fire pit is waiting for you. You can drink some wine, or maybe a hot chocolate and enjoy the stary night and the sound of the trees moving with the wind.
If it gets colder, we invite you to our main living room to enjoy the chimney, maybe a good movie, a good talk with friends and family where you can even use the guitar we have just right next to the TV.
Our house is the perfect combination of privacy and union, since all of the rooms are separate but our social areas will naturally invite all group members to share the memories you will be creating in this magical corner of earth.
