We booked a room to stay in for the night of our wedding, I communicated we would be checking in late around 10pm. The owner said that was fine and that we’d be able to check ourselves in. The check-in instructions were vague “once you enter the gate”... we were not given a gate code. Naively, I assumed we might not need a gate code or it would be emailed to us closer to the date or the owner would message us with it. We pulled up to the villa directly after our wedding. The gate is closed and we have no code. Thankfully, someone else who was staying at the villa was behind our car and gave us the code. If he had not been there we would not have had anywhere to stay the night of our wedding, because the owner wasn’t responding to my messages. Once we got inside, the room we were assigned had someone else’s bags already in it. The man who gave us the code knew the owner’s husband and called him out of the house. The person’s bags were removed and he apologized for the mix-up. We were stunned by this entire experience but just wanted to turn in for the night in the room that we paid for. Really wanted to love this place because it is a beautiful property, but overall we had an incredibly disappointing experience. The rest of our stay was fine, there is a kitchen available but in a shared area, for some reason I thought the kitchen included would be in the suite. The owner asked if we were going to use the hot tub so she could turn it on which was nice. But overall disappointed.
