There’s a moment, on the very first morning of a holiday, when you open the shutters and the air feels different as it fills your lungs. Saltier. Lighter. At Casa Doria, that’s exactly how it begins: the light of southern Sardinia filters into the room, the garden outside is already warm, and somewhere just 450 meters away, the sea of Costa Rei is waiting.

Costa Rei is one of the most beautiful coastlines in the Mediterranean — turquoise waters, pale sand, and seabeds that look almost painted. Casa Doria is located on Via Doria Bassa, on the ground floor, in a quiet and sheltered position that immediately puts you at ease. No need to take the car, no need to look for parking by the beach: slip on your sandals, grab your towel, and within five minutes on foot your feet are already in the water.
The spaces — spacious, welcoming, designed for living well
The veranda is the heart of the house. Large, shaded, overlooking the garden: it’s where you have breakfast in the morning with fresh fruit, enjoy lunch in the shade during the hottest hours, and linger around the table in the evening until the stars begin to appear one by one. It’s the space you’ll remember most.
The indoor living room is spacious and airy, with a sofa you can truly sink into, a TV for restful evenings, and a well-equipped kitchenette for those who love cooking even on holiday — perhaps with fresh fish bought at the market in Villasimius or at the harbor in Tertenia.
There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom is quiet and relaxing, with all the space you need to recharge after long sunny days. The second bedroom, with bunk beds, is perfect for children — it quickly becomes their base camp, their hideaway, the space they claim on the very first day and never want to leave until departure.
The garden — where the evening comes alive
There is something special about dining outdoors when the heat of the day has softened and the air smells of myrtle and rosemary. Casa Doria’s private garden is large, green, and completely secluded: no intrusive neighbors, only the sound of insects, the smoke from the barbecue, and the clinking of glasses. The outdoor shower is there to rinse off after the beach before even stepping inside — a small ritual that soon becomes part of the rhythm of the day.
The surroundings — southern Sardinia at its very best
Casa Doria is the perfect starting point for exploring one of the island’s most authentic corners. Just a short drive away are the beaches of Piscina Rei, Cala Pira, and Scoglio di Peppino. Villasimius, with its marina, restaurants, and lively summer atmosphere, is about twenty minutes away. Cagliari, with its museums, historic market, and outstanding cuisine, is less than an hour away.
But the truth is that many guests at Casa Doria end up not venturing far at all. Because when the sea is only a five-minute walk away, the barbecue is lit, and the sunset paints the garden red, there isn’t much else you truly need.
