The lanai was always shaded, so we spent a lot of time there watching the waves. Condo was located next to a park with a lovely beach. This great location for exploring Maui!

Great location for young kids

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This location was ideal for our 3.5 year old! So close to the beach and the beach had trees that provided shade. There is also I nice reef break that makes the water a little calmer for young kiddos to play. Only suggestion we have is to add an A/C unit... especially in the loft bedroom. It did get quite warm in the afternoons and evenings in the loft. There is a fan and window in the loft to help with airflow but A/C would help!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had stayed here before. The fires really changed the overall feeling of the area in a negative way. The grounds were nice but the pool was cold. The unit itself was oddly furnished with a small TV. All in all, just OK.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Hale Kai has a great atmosphere, many people know each other. So easy to meet others, not like a big resort. Prices are increasing, which is understandable. However, this is an older property and many units could use some internal updates. At the new price points, there are other accomodations nearby that are now very competitive. Still, the 'vibe' of the Hale Kai is what brings people back - and I'll be back next February.

4th Time at Hale Kai!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Hale Kai is my go-to spot in Western Maui. We stayed in #205 this trip. Very clean second story unit facing park with ocean view. Kitchen was well stocked with lots of dishes, pots & pans. We do like to prepare our breakfast and lunch in unit and eat out for dinner. This unit had a loft with a super comfy king bed and small bathroom and downstairs with queen bed and another bathroom. Grounds were impeccable as usual. Pool was spotless and lots of lounge chairs. We enjoyed visiting with past guests and made new friends. Melody in the office is wonderful and very helpful. Neighborhood is great for walking and lots of small local restaurants! We will be returning next year!

Relaxation. Locals were very kind walking distance from the farmers market. This place was very clean. All amenities needed. Only thing missing was a air conditioner but it was cool enough to have windows and doors open.

Very quiet and everyone staying at the property was very friendly. When the cable in our condo wasn't working staff was friendly and very responsive. It was fixed before we return from our adventures that day. Totally recommend this rental as the base for an incredible Maui getaway.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love the location and the homey feel of this location. Unfortunately, I am no longer tolerant of the heat at night and a future visit MUST include airconditioning so I can sleep at night. Not being able to sleep did have some negative impact on my overall experience.

There is no air-conditioning, so it was hot in the afternoon and evening- especially in the upper level of the condo. We had the kids share the upper room so we could be a little cooler.The beach was great for small children and we rented a crib and highchair from a locally recommended company which was great. They dropped off and picked up all the baby gear we needed- it was wonderful.I only wish there had been a sun umbrella in our room to use, but there were two in my sister-in-law's room, so we borrowed hers before she left.Overall it was a wonderful stay. My only complaint was the heat- but I believe most rentals are not air-conditioned in Hawaii- so it was perfect. There were fans in every room.

Another Great Stay at Hale Kai

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our third stay at Hale Kai and we once again had a great time. This was our second stay in 205 and it was almost perfect. We did have to use the sleeper sofa and it is sorely in need of replacement. Other than that everything was great. We love the location with the park, ocean, and pool right there as well as having farmers market, restaurants and grocery store in walking distance.

Great Stay at Hale Kai!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay in #205. The place was great in mid July. Although it got to the high 80's we were able to cool off at night with the fans and open windows. The lady at the desk was very nice. We broke out blender and she had a new one to give to us! She gave us maps, told us about the island and gave us beach chairs for the duration of the stay. The pool is nice but why swim in the warm pool when you can swim in the ocean! We were able to watch sea turtles from our balcony. There is coffee, a farmers market and restaurants all a short walk away.

There are turtles in the water just off the park and the pool, The facility has aged well and the management is there to help. The neighbors are very welcoming to visitors.

Amazing Stay

Very well maintained, clean, perfect location beside a park and a quiet beach. Great location for site-seeing although we didn't want to leave the property. The pool is clean and very quiet, felt like our private pool.
