The cabin boasts 3 comfortable bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, large living spaces, and a spacious kitchen. Traveling is a breeze when you stay with us as the lodge is fully equipped with great amenities. Property offers an outdoor hot tub, fire pit, and great quality time. State Parks, lakes, canoe & kayaking, ziplining and so much more all located within a short distance from the property.

    Take a 30 minute drive from your vacation home to visit Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, Ash Cave, Rock House, Conkle's Hollow, or Rock Bridge located in Hocking Hills State Park. No matter the season, you and your guests won't be disappointed when visiting all the beauty Hocking Hills offers!

    The 1850 Inn is located in Nelsonville and 5 miles from Wayne National Forest. The State Park offers over thousands of acres to explore by hiking, off-highway vehicle riding, mountain biking, or horseback riding. When in town, guests will want to visit Nelsonville's Historic Square Arts District, Stuart's Opera House, Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, or the Nelsonville Music Festival that is held every year at Hocking College. 15 miles from the cabin, guests will run into Lake Hope State Park located in Zaleski State Forest. Guests can enjoy some fine dining at Lake Hope Lodge or a day of picnicking and swimming with family and friends.

Very neat 1800’s home with updated kitchen and appliances, very nice fenced backyard, patio with a little fire pit and gas grill. Unfortunately the weather was quite cold and snowy, but it would be great on a nice day Glad it was pet friendly enjoyed having our dog with us felt comfortable walking on the streets of Nelsonville with her The house was neat and clean and supplied with plenty towels and kitchen utensils Convenient location for visiting all that Hocking Hills has to offer if you enjoy nature and the outdoors

We Loved This Place

The house was clean, updated, spacious, beautiful and very comfortable. The location was quiet and close to downtown, which made it nice for walks. We really enjoyed our stay!

Great Location

We were going tubing on the Hocking River so the location was super convenient! Loved the interior of the house and found it to be well-stocked (missing a toaster, however!) Would definitely recommend to anyone enjoying no the area!

Wonderful Stay

Beautiful stay. Convenient to Nelsonville Square and the theater, which is why we were in town. Very clean home. So much space. Loved our stay. Easy check in and check out.

Ohio vacay

We came down to spend time with family and friends in the area. It was rainy, chilly, and cloudy most of our stay, but we did have some nice weather. We didn't really do any sightseeing or adventures on this trip. Mostly we stayed in the Nelsonville, Athens & Amesville areas.

Nice Old House

If you are going to Nelsonvilled or Hocking College, the location is excellent. This is a cool old house. Bring your own soap and shampoo.If you have a dog, be aware that there is a big gap in the fence and your dog can easily leave the nice private back yard.

Beautiful old home!

The pictures do not do it justice. Overall a great stay! Check in / out was quick but had to go to a retail business to pick up key. Home was very clean, but was a little dissappointed that the upstairs ( bath and sleeping area) was so hot! The downstairs was a very comfortable.

Hocking Hills-“buggy”

The home was historic and beautiful—gorgeous wood floors. The neighborhood was rundown and felt a bit sketchy. There is some effort to revitalize a one block stretch that had a couple cute shops/coffee house. The worst part of stay is that we discovered cockroaches on our fifth of six night stay— gross!

Great Stay

This property is exactly as pictured. As mentioned in previous reviews there is no hot tub. We were offered a free kayaking trip. The back yard was wonderful and relaxing. We enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders. The house was very clean. I do wish check in and check out could have been on site but it was only about 5 min away from the property.

Beautiful home

A beautiful, impeccably clean house. The town is small. It is a beautiful home and I would love there in a minute. The home is right by the town square. The town is small. A few local restaurants are within one block. 2 of 3 were closed the weekend we were there. You’re 30 minutes away from Hocking Hills State Park. Beautiful park. We went tubing on the Hocking river and that was great. We were just minutes away from that.

A truly outstanding house and experience!

The entire experience of staying with 1st Choice Properties was excellent. The check-in was clear and easy. When we arrived at the house, it was impeccably clean. This particular house is quite old (built in the 1850's), but the kitchen and all 3 bathrooms have been nicely updated. The interior design and decor are tasteful and modern. We encountered a small issue during our stay (we couldn't find the ironing board that was listed as being included). We contacted the management team and they addressed it promptly and to our complete satisfaction. I very highly recommend this house and 1st Choice Properties. We would definitely stay wtih them again!

Listing needs updating

The inside of the home is as listed and clean with the exception of the windowsills , absolutely filthy. The outside is another story. The backyard is completely unusable, we’d filled mess. The furniture is moldy and the ashtrays still had used cigarettes in it. The front porch shows a storm door, ferns and a lovely porch. Completely not accurate. Again filled ashtrays, dirty furniture and a missing storm door.

House was clean and had everything we needed. The only complaint would be the hidden 50 pet fee that did not appear anywhere on the advertisement for the property. All fees were supposably included with the listed cost. We didn't find out until we were charged the additional 50 that there was a 50 pet fee for this property. The 50 additional pet fee only appears in the fine print of the exhaustive rental agreement when you are actually booking the rental. The web site should clearly list the additional 50 pet fee for each pet. The only verbiage on the web site relating to pets is that it is a pet friendly rental.

Lovely home. Inflexible property management.

This is a great house and we thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the bathrooms needs an update, but otherwise lovely. The town is a bit rough but the house is in the lovely historic district. When asked for the slightest leniency on check in and checkout, the management co was entirely inflexible… but, for a fee they could find their way to allow a late checkout. We were driving by 35 mins. before the checkin time and tried to pick up the key, but we’re turned away. I find that renting from individual owners is so much better than these management companies which are generally expensive and inflexible.

Large house, convenient part of town

We had an abbreviated stay due to unforeseen circumstances, but our short stay at the 1850s house was fine. The kitchen and dining table could have been a bit cleaner, and many lightbulbs were out around the house, but overall it was a good stay. There are no kitchen staples for a VRBO (salt/pepper, coffee, cooking oil) so bring ALL supplies you may need. Kroger is close by as well.There is a nice laundry room and backyard area. There was only a chess game, but no other games or puzzles or even a deck of cards that I could find. We have stayed at VRBOs all over the country (and overseas), and this did surprise us.There is PLENTY of space to spread out since the house is large and the outdoor spaces are nice to spend time in as well. We were there for such a short amount of time, we did not use the showers, so I can't speak to the water pressure.The beds were pretty comfortable and the A/C and heat worked well.
