Solace is a great place to stay for visiting the East Coast! We used it as our home base when visiting New York City, Washington DC, Boston; and the many small, picturesque towns within the tri-state area in the month we were there. The reason we chose Solace was because it looked very clean with ample space as compared to other apartments we looked at in the area. It has two full bathrooms and its own Laundry room - a rarity for the rentals at that price range. And the three bedrooms comfortably accommodated our party of 6.
The location was ideal. It is 10 minutes from Newark International Airport by car or bus. If traveling into New York City, the bus ride is 15 minutes from the apartment to the Newark Penn Station at a cost of $1.60 per ride. The bus stop can literally bee seen from the apartment window. And once at the Newark Penn Station, it is only a 25 minute metro ride (PATH ride) from the Newark Penn station to the World Trade Center in Manhattan. We did this route for 5 days as we explored New York City. I recommend using the mass transit system when in New York City. Driving into the city is not recommended due to the traffic congestion, full parking lots and confusing street parking. At the end of the day, we came back to the comfortable beds that awaited us.The Kitchen is equipped with everything you may need to cook up breakfast, lunch, or dinner - depending on how much time you wish to spend in the apartment. We usually ate breakfast before leaving the apartment and heading into New York City. For our day and weekend trips outside New York City, we rented a car. The apartment has ample street parking. And the host also offers driveway parking- Something you will not find in New York City, Jersey City, or other cities near New York City. And since the apartment is located in Newark, you don't have to fight the traffic congestion of New York City if you wish to take a car trip to visit all the historic/beach sites in Philadelphia, Washington DC, the Jersey Shore, or even Boston
Lastly, I could not have asked for a better host. On our arrival, the host greeted us with a fruit basket; helped us with our luggage; And walked us through the apartment to make sure we understood how everything worked. They gave us pro tips on where to catch the bus. Which bus went directly to NYC. And which bus went to the Newark Penn Station. And constantly checking on us to make sure we were having a wonderful time. Thank you for being a great host!
