Just the perfect place for my wife, 2 dogs, and myself. Walking distance to the beach. Big backyard for the pups to run around and burn up some energy. It's a very clean and cozy home. Quick responses from the management team. Highly recommend! Thank you, Sojourn!

Weekend getaway

When they say less is more, they mean it in such an amazing way! This minimalist little cottage is wonderful for quick get aways or for families that don’t want to be overwhelmed with large properties and amenities. We came for the weekend and were able to focus on just being together as a family and that’s all in part to this wonderful property’s location and ability to provide the necessities; making us feel like we didn’t need to bring a bunch with us or go out and get stuff. It was wonderful to live and stay true to the essentials in life and enjoy the surrounding areas like the beach and the zoo! This is a property we plan to bookmark for future use!

Lovely Place to Rest

My wife and I had a brief overnight stay, and we were very pleased with our experience. The host quickly answered several questions prior to booking, and also provided suggestions for area restaurants. The home was quite clean and the beds were comfy. I also appreciated that there wasn't a mile long list of check-out chores that some other places force. I would happily stay again.

Very nice house but be careful with your dog

Overall we had a nice stay here and the location was fantastic as it was two blocks from the beach. But I saw a review about the backyard fence having a sizable gap and so I messaged the host and they assured me it had been fixed. But it had not. They stacked some pavers in the gap, but not high enough to actually prevent a dog from getting out. They stacked them about 18”-24” high and a dog can easily jump that high and through the gap. So we improvised and stacked other items from the yard in the gap to keep the dogs safe. I hope they do truly fix this because a fenced in yardis such a plus when we travel.

Beautiful Place

We stayed here for an extended weekend and it was such a cute place! Very clean and relaxing. The beach is just a couple minutes of walking from the house and easy to get to.

ODU Graduation!

So…My family of 4, plus a friend, and our 110lb American Bully stayed here on December 13th-15th.And we were very pleased with our stay overall. Let me give the pros and the cons.Pros: Good location. It’s just on the other side of the tunnel and very close to the beach (our dog loved it). The property is very nice and updated. Huge backyard, and long driveway for multiple cars. Quiet neighborhood and no noise from highway traffic. The kitchen was our favorite by far. Well stocked and modern. You won’t need to bring anything. They have all the pots, dishes, and utensils you will need. Wish I could’ve taken the stove with me. Check in and check out instructions were made so easy for us. Never talked to or met with the property manager. The SOJOURN team communicated with me from start to finish (via text). The bedrooms and bathroom were of good size and met our expectations. We had no issues.Cons: In 2 of the bedrooms, the closets didn’t have the bars to hang up your clothes. This wasn’t a big deal and it’s an easy fix for SOJOURN. And the 3 trash cans out back were full from the previous group. Again, maybe this was a missed pick up, but again, not a big deal. However, presentation is everything. And finally, make sure that you ask about all of the taxes and fees for renting in Norfolk. Trust me.. ask! Overall, we will look for other properties that SOJOURN monitors in hopes of having the same pleasant experience.We highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway.

Cozy Norfolk House

Everything in the listing was exactly as shown. Check in and check out were simple and easy. Property manager was in contact and inquired of our needs. We didn't have any becuase the house was well stocked, but based on all other parts of the stay, I assume that would be handled efficiently. The highway is close, so there is quite a bit of road noise outside, but the sound is minimal once inside the house. We wpuld definitely stay here again.

Cottage near the bay

The house was exactly as described and pictured in the listing. It was clearly renovated recently and they did a good job updating the kitchen and bath while keeping the vintage details of the house. The kitchen is well stocked and we appreciated snacks and water left for us. When we had problems with the digital lock on the first day, they were very responsive. There are a couple of things people should know. The backyard is fenced, but there us a gap over a foot wide. Pavers are stacked to partially block it, but a child or dog could get through. The bay access is about 2 blocks, but it crosses a 4 lane road without a cross walk or traffic light.

Fenced yard, good neighborhood

The listing and reviews were not clear if the backyard was fully fenced, so I wanted to mention that here because that's important for dog families. The house was small, but perfect for my dog and I. Would be fine for a small family to stay for a beach visit. House was clean, but not so perfect that I felt like we were going to wreck it. The couch was not the most comfy, but was ok. Bed was pretty comfortable. Overall a good stay. Would stay again.

Good Weekend Stay

We stayed through the weekend here to visit the NAS Oceana Airshow. We had a small issue with the door code at the beginning of the stay, but it was easily resolved within about 15 minutes with a phone call. They made sure everything was good afterwards and gave us a direct number in case we had any further issues which we didn't. The overall stay was good and I would recommend this over the hotels that are close by in the area.

Weather was poor and I felt puny after a medical procedure and the place was clean, quiet, nice and cool, great people letting us get in a little early. Had some of the best pizza delivered I've ever eaten (Cal's), recommend highly!

Really cute

Very cute cottage. Very comfy beds, nice linens. Great furnishings. Ok location. We had an infant with us who is crawling. We checked for baby hazards when we got there. We found lots of trash and a dish towel under the couch. The carpet in the living room was old, stained and had pet hair on it. The tub wasn’t the cleanest. Some cracked walls and dirty molding. Someone spackled some areas on the walls but did not paint. A new rug, some paint and a new cleaning crew would Definately help.

Great spot by the beach!

We enjoyed our stay at the coastal cottage! Everything was very clean and all of the essentials were provided (coffee, toiletries, beach chairs, etc.). We loved the convenience of the fenced in yard for our dogs, as well as the quick walk to the beach! The property managers were also friendly and very quick to respond.

Cute Cottage

What a cute little house. Location is nice and close to a little beach. Loved that there are beach chairs there for guest use! I wanted to take my chair along on our trip but we didn't have room, so this was such a great surprise! One thing that was annoying was the required fee for insurance...I was trying to find somewhere affordable for our family to stay. We needed a place for our family of 6 to stay while we visited our son before he deploys. It was a whirlwind trip - less than 48 hours total - and it felt like we paid through our teeth. The house was nice and clean. But it was frustrating to have to pay the extra fees. It seemed like the insurance would be the same whether you were staying 2 nights or 6 nights. I would stay there again if we need a vrbo. But hoping our son has a place we can stay next time so we can avoid all the extra fees.
