We had a lovely stay here overall! The outdoor space is truly the highlight. The patio and yard are beautiful and we especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and sauna after hiking nearby. The space itself is as described, with a shared kitchen that was easy enough to use during our stay. One thing future guests may want to keep in mind is that the bedroom features a twin and double bed, so it might feel a bit tight depending on what you’re used to. The host is very attentive and her dog Bonkers is the best! At times, communication and check-ins were more frequent than we personally prefer, but others may appreciate that level of involvement. Overall, a pleasant stay with standout outdoor amenities!

I loved this place. The living space is open to nature and very calming. All of the special touches and beautiful garden spaces she created made for the most welcoming and relaxing stay! I wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Perfect perfect perfect. Everything was better than expected all the way down to donkeys. Mary was a wonderful host. Only problem was we were very busy. We would’ve like more time to spend there. You will not go wrong staying there. We definitely will be back. I highly recommend this property. Enjoy everyone!!

Mary's Oak View mountain stay was special, with comfortable and cozy outdoor lounge seating, hot tub, sauna, and space for me to do my yoga. I sat in the hot tub under the full moon every night, and the sauna got nice and hot. Though it might only say 130 degrees, it is a far infrared and within 20 minutes I was sweating! Nighttime lighting was beautifully set up so I could sit outside and listen to the owls and watch the stars emerge. It felt like a treehouse. The bed was super comfortable; good hot water and pressure; good lighting inside the sleeping space and shades to block out sun to sleep in. She provides a refrigerator so that I could keep my food refrigerated. Easy parking. Only 20 mins to Ojai and 15 minutes to Ventura for the beach. I loved meeting her little dog and her two donkeys who were sweet and affectionate! As this is in a mountain setting, keep in mind there is sometime little twits or leaves that comes off of trees or pollen; if you're uptight you might want to book a hotel room. There could be little upgrades such as a new hair-dryer. But Mary has thought of so many lovely little touches: yoga mat, fleece robes for the hot tub, extra towels for hot tub, comfy cushions for outdoor seats, telescope and binoculars. These are things that wouldn't be in a hotel! I would stay here any day over a hotel. It was SO relaxing to be in this mountain retreat. Mary is an awesome communicator; so responsive and helpful. Made me feel right at home.
Her two donkeys are so gentle and sweet. She gave me snacks to feed them. This one smiled afterwards, hilarious!

Mary was a wonderful host! Good communication, and very helpful. I was here to record a song, and had some friends visiting me after. It was a magical little sanctuary for us girls to hang out and each have our own bed. Mary has put so much love into this space. Everywhere you turn there is a touch of magic and whimsy. High vibes. Plus a great trail to walk and lots of animal medicine. The donkeys were so sweet, and there are lots of beautiful and easy to get to resteraunts and shopping nearby. I really loved the hot tub and sauna! And I look forward to coming back again if I visit Ojai!

I absolutely loved staying here. The host was lovely and I loved chatting with her. She was even kind enough to let me meet her dog. I loved the sounds of this spot. You can hear birds chirping in the distance, and water from a flountain trickling by. It was lovely and I definitely reccommend!!!

If you appreciate a rustic country feel and outdoor living, with the company of 2 very friendly donkeys who love snacks and pets, and an adorable little spunky dog, then this is the perfect spot for you. During the sunny mornings we had a great time in the hot tub and sauna followed by a cold plunge into the pool. A lovely, relaxed and casual atmosphere with a scenic trail for peaceful evening walks. Mary was a great host, very sweet and accommodating. We definitely hope to return again.

This is a cool property with lots of potential and the host was kind and talkative. It has the amenities one would desire, but was not fully functional and could use a lot more upkeep.This is a shared space with the host. The kitchen is accessible to you but the host lives at the property. You have private areas to use, but the host may enter the area to feed the donkeys.No dogs are allowed, but we have a service animal which is always allowed. There was no problem with this except she got fleas from presumably the donkeys. The host has a dog but it is not very well behaved and will jump all over you.The place was not clean like the pictures. It had tools and stored items all around the property, inside and out. It didn’t seem like the host had it “ready” for us at all. The hot tub water had algae growing in it and needed cleaning. The pool was unusable due to how dirty the water was. The sauna turned on and after it heated it stopped working. Turns out it tripped a breaker on a power strip. I don’t have enough space to say how dangerously I think this place is wired. Never should you plug a sauna into a series of extension cords and then into an unrated power strip. I’m amazed the place didn’t have a fire yet quite frankly.The sleeping space was littered with cobwebs and most of the overhead lighting either didn’t have bulbs or didn’t work. It was very hard to see in there with such little light. The bathroom was growing mold inside the worn out cabinet
