“I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. It wasn't such a big deal, but it was another warning sign. I was in a single room, which made a certain saying about a cat spring to mind. “A lovely old countryside Inn which has been modernised to an excellent standard whilst maintaining the old features The bedrooms are of a good size with comfy beds and stylish ensuite with powerful shower The room we stayed in also had the added benefit of air conditioning which was welcoming indeed with the ouyside temps being over 30^c Food service and all staff were excellent and all in all we found The Star to be a great place to stay”
