I came to stop at the Budget Inn with a college friend on our way south for a wedding. We had just driven for 20 hours and we're very tired. We are both under 19 and had checked their website and had called several times asking if the minimum check in age was 18.
We arrived at 1:45 in the morning, which should have been OK since the website said checking ended at 2. After ringing the bell for a gold 5 minutes, a man emerged from what appeared to be his house as if we woke him up. After immediately asking for our ages, he went back into his room for a few minutes before reemerging, telling us we had to he 21 and to please leave. We exclaimed that their website and he himself had told us over the phone that minimum check in was 18 but he insisted he had never said such a thing. I even had a print out of my hotel reservation with the minimum age of 18 printed right on the receipt. He told us he doesn't control that web sight and that that was incorrect. I had to call Expedia and had an agent talk with him over the phone, but he still refused service, calling us rude and immature, stating that we needed to come with our parents.
He was very rude to us and we ended up having to drive hotel to hotel for the next few hours, trying to find anything that would take us since we we're under 21.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. The lot and surrounding area was sketchy, the doors we're old and had peeling paint, and the owner was a complete a** to us.
