“When we arrived the lights were left on and the door was unlocked. Which wasn't quite what we expected. However the property was clean and tidy and ready for guests. We discovered you can accidentally turn off the water pump as switches are unlabelled above the stove. We used the word burner fire both nights. However noticed the dampener and grate controls are all broken so the wood burns super quick...the door is difficult to close and once hot, distorts and no longer closes. Plenty of wood in...

Details to contact the property manager were out of date which caused a bit of panic when checking out as the instructions re what to do were unclear. The property could have been a bit cleaner dust wise. All in all loved the place and encourage the owners to keep it maintained and cleaned well.”

“Have holidayed in Hatepe for forty years so have rented many properties. Enjoyed the lake side position, the open fire and comfortable furnishings. There was only one extra blanket for the beds for my grandchildren who had come to NZ from 30 + degrees . Thanks owners for letting your property. I nursed with Di North in PN Hospital many years ago when we trained and Dr North was Med Superintendent? ( or have wrong family)??”

“Our over all stay at the property was great apart from being cold, the property would need a heatpump down stairs also the Fire place upstairs being in the wall is not enough for the size of the property hopefully something is done for the next winter.”

“With this house you get an awful lot of dampness along side all the wonders of a beautiful bush setting, and fantastic morning bird song. There are dehumidifiers downstairs that barely take the edge off the appalling damp, moldy smell down where the lower bedrooms are. Even the upstairs bedroom was more musty than I would expect for a quality bach. When we arrived the hot water hadnt been turned on, and its really hard to get someone from Bachcare to answer the phone, so it took a while to get...
