Beautiful house, terrible experience
The house is as advertised, was clean and fit our family comfortably. However, the resort is a nightmare, and Upstay is difficult and frustrating to work with. Their payment portal is not linked to VRBO and is difficult to use with threats to cancel the reservation without refund at each step of the 2 payments (bank flags transactions as fraud). There is a separate charge to heat the pool/hot tub (the pool doesn’t heat, and hot tub only heats when the jets are on so it gets too hot too quickly, but cools off completely within 3 minutes of the jets turning off for 60/day). The host didn’t provide the door code with the check-in instructions (the cleaning crew gave it to us as they exited at check in time!) The resort doesn’t have enough parking, so if you need more than 2 cars to get your family of 19 to the house good luck not getting towed- we parked a 3rd car in the driveway overhanging the sidewalk to load suitcases at check-out, and a tow truck hooked up to tow it out of the driveway mid-checkout! Also, the listing says checkout at 11:00 and I confirmed with the host 1 week in advance of our reservation, but the night before checkout the host tried to change check-out time to 10:00. The resort pool code was never given to us- the remote host kept insisting that it was a manual latch without a code contrary to reality. We will never book with Upstay again, terrible experience.
