Our stay focussed around the kitchen and dining area.However, we soon came together in front of the fire place,and sang songs and had the experience I was hoping for.I hope to come back again, with even more family!We took long walks together every day, and retreated to the warmth of the lodge at the end....glorious time!

Wonderful, well-maintained and spacious lodge with great attention to detail, including big kitchen, books, crafts and games and a full-fledged game room that will keep both kids and adults busy. The surrounding property is beautiful as well — take in the stars from the deck at night. Perfect place to get away from the city and experience nature. Clear and helpful communication from owner. Excellent, scenic hiking and the famous Mount Palomar Observatory nearby. I give this lodge my highest recommendation!

wow what a weekend!

everything about this property exceeded expectations. it was the perfect place for our family gathering. we would 100% return! andrew and april are the best hosts! they made sure that everything was perfect. they have a lot of amenities that they offer to make the stay awesome!

Fantastic lodge in a fantastic area

This well-equipped lodge is on top of Palomar Mountain. Well kept, plenty of space for a group of people and located in a gorgeous landscape with a beautiful outside sitting area and a beautiful patio with a view of the valley. Definitely recommended!

What a great place to spend a family holiday! The house is amazing and the property is special. The kids hunting eggs/Snowball fights/sledding/hiking and hot tub were our favorite activities. A special Thank you to Andrew(Host) who helped us get up the driveway. He called a neighbor(Randy) who had a tractor with a plow and he cleared the way.

Excellent!

Our New Year celebration at this house was nothing but wonderful! The host was great at communicating about check-in and check-out process and responded promptly when we had some questions. He was kind to allow us an early check- in and check- out which we were very grateful for. The house itself is very cozy and beautiful, and it has everything we needed starting from tons of kitchen utensils and tools, fun games and books for adults and kids, great bed sheets and very comfortable mattresses and pillows. Everyone also loved the jacuzzi and our entire group is hoping to come back for a summer stay to enjoy hikes in a nearby forest! Thank you for a great start of the new year!

Best Family Thanksgiving Retreat Ever

Our family has been getting together for Thanksgiving for over a dozen years. Three generations, from very young, to seniors. The Upper Meadow Lodge was the very best location, the best experience, and the most amazing home we have ever experienced. The description, pictures, and early communications don't even begin to do this Lodge justice. It is an amazing structure, clearly architect designed, custom built, and lovingly taken care of. Every room had something special. All the beds were wonderful, with a variety of levels of firmness, everyone can find something just right! The kitchen is large, open, extremely well supplied, and easy for multiple "cooks" to work together in. There are three levels, two accessible for drive up. Bedrooms suitable for couples, families, and friends. Great functional washrooms, a very efficient heating/cooling system (plus a wood burning fireplace/stove if you are so inclined, with supplied firewood) Great utilities, lights, and communication/entertainment systems. It is located high on Palomar Mountain, with an exceptional open view to the south & west. Wonderful early morning sun, great sunsets. The 17 acre property is very private, and offers lots of opportunity for local walks & exploring. The hosts are fantastic, communication was great! This definitely with result in a return trip for our family.

Perfect location for family gathering with perfect temperature between LA and San Diego

To be short and precise, the rental is at the perfect altitude that provided perfect temperature around 70 to 80F, surrounded by areas of 100+F. It's a pefect refuge for Families escaping the heat and the city. Plenty of room to house large family reunions. Also has perfect sun rise views that few rental offers. We have no major.issues to speak of. The owner "Drew" is attentive to the guests needs. I would give it a 5 star thumbs up.

Great mountain retreat!

This is a beautiful property. Our family of 14 had plenty of room to relax and take in the stunning views of Palomar Mountain. The beds were very comfortable and the house was neat, clean and organized. We hope to return another time in the future.

Glamping all the way…

A gorgeous, spacious retreat for 10 (for us)… plenty more room with many areas to gather so no one is on top of each other. Comfortable beds and pillows and furniture not typical is many rentals. Games, fully stocked kitchen, hot tub and everything worked. Close for friends from LA, the desert and in between. The owners had regular and timely communication about the trip. Highly recommend.

A Wonderful Place to Vacation

My family and I enjoyed our vacation at this terrific home on Palomar Mountain. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. It was as described, beautiful views, plenty of beds, a fantastic Great Room, everything was operational, and the level of detail the owner provided was extraordinary ... down to such details as a pizza cutter (which we had forgotten). He also was quick to respond to any questions, and provided detailed instructions on everything pertaining to the home. We feel we have found a jewel, and hope to return in the near future.

Secluded comfortable mountain lodge. Great for large families, comfortable beds, ample seating. Location is serene but very far from stores- so bring all the food you need for your stay. Large gourmet kitchen had every appliance needed. Hosts were very responsive. House has board games but no game room, so if bringing kids make sure they have activities to do or enjoy exploring nature.
