The room and property were beautiful and exceptionally clean and upkept. The issue I had was at check-in. The room I paid for was for a 1 bedroom suite with dining room, kitchen, living room, bedroom, etc. The room I was given was an approximate 300 sq ft guest room. It was fine, but not what I paid for. I did not have time to remedy this since they did not allow me access to my room until close to 6pm and by then I had meetings I was rushing to. I was contacted by the hotel to let me know they had mixed up my room later that evening via voicemail. When I finished with work and returned to the room around 11 pm, the staff at the front did not know what I was talking about. After about 10 minutes, the representative came out of the back room and instead of apologizing or explaining they were fixing their mistake, simply asked me if I was happy in the room I was in. I was confused by this and asked, "excuse me?" and again simply asked if I was happy with the room I already have. I asked if they did not have my room any longer. Then I was given the explanation that they did have a room set aside for me, but if I was happy with the room I had, I could just stay there instead. The fact that they tried to push me into a smaller accommodation and yet charge me for the larger one, has not left me with a pleasant experience from Marriott Desert Springs. The accommodations were clean and beautiful, but due to the service, I will not be returning.
