Disappointing Stay Due to Mismanagement — Not the Home Itself
The property is beautiful — clean and in a great location. Unfortunately, our stay in May 2025 was undermined by serious mismanagement from Apek, the property management company. We paid extra to have the pool heated to 88F. The spa never worked, and the pool remained cold for the entire stay. Apek claimed the pool was 88 — it wasn’t — and we purchased a pool thermometer to prove it. At one point, an untrained family member arrived, placed his hand in the water, and insisted the pool was at the correct temperature. When we pushed back, he attempted to measure it using an infrared thermometer — a device fundamentally incapable of accurately reading water temperature. He then submerged the device into the pool, destroying it. When we requested a refund for the heating fee, Apek implied we were “inventing” issues to seek compensation, something they claimed other guests had done. Our thermometer readings were indisputable, and the heating fee was eventually refunded. We were also accused of using the threat of a negative review for leverage and criticized for "freaking out" — which, after days of being strung along, we admittedly did. But we never sought anything beyond the heating refund. If Apek is still managing this property, renters should be aware: if something goes wrong, don’t expect meaningful support.
