Unpleasant experience due to last minute change of accommodation and appalling customer service
I booked this property for 3 nights as I was in Paris for a conference at a location 5 minutes away. 1 working day before my trip I was told I could no longer stay here and was given a choice to move to another location or receive a refund. Since it would have been impossible to find alternative accommodations that late I accepted the change. I explained however that I have mobility issues and use a wheelchair, therefore I kindly asked for a refund on the taxi costs I would incur as a consequence of being much further away from the conference venue. I spoke to VRBO and they advised me to call the host. The company employee who answered was unbelievably rude, and wouldn't let me speak with a manager. I'm still shocked at the way I was treated, their tone and dismissive attitude was entirely inappropriate. They said I should take the metro or bus. I arrived at the new location to find that there was no accessible metro station nearby, and taking the bus at rush hour was impossible. Most of the sidewalks in the area were also inaccessible by wheelchair. This new location in the Marais - which hasn't even been updated for my trip on VRBO's platform - looked quite different from the pictures I was sent. The furniture was much more used, certainly not "luxurious" as advertised and none of the radiators worked. The toilet was minuscule and one of the bedrooms was actually a closet without ventilation. For what was offered the cost was unreasonably high. Wouldn't recommend this host.
