We booked this property over a month in advance and paid an large deposit. After flying overnight with three young kids, we arrived at the location around 5 PM to pick up the keys—only to find an email stating our booking had been cancelled because our bank supposedly reversed the payment. We immediately called our bank and confirmed that they had not canceled anything. The full rental fee had been refunded—but the deposit remains unreturned.
The host completely disappeared. No answer to multiple phone calls. We were stranded in a very expensive neighborhood in Paris with three exhausted children and no place to stay. We had to scramble and find a last-minute hotel room for over triple the rate had booked just to get through the night.
This experience was extremely distressing and financially damaging. We’ve reported this to both Expedia and VRBO (the listing appeared on both). The deposit still has not been refunded. This feels like a scam, and no family should have to go through what we did.
Avoid this listing at all costs.
