“The Lilac Barn was lovely, exactly as it looks in the pictures, clean & spacious with a wonderful welcome bundle. I can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking for a place to stay, just outside the hustle & bustle of the Lakes.”

“Lovely cottage, well-equipped. Wonderful position for walking straight from the cottage, and the valley with its birdsong and red squirrels is a joy. The track up to the cottage has some slightly challenging moments for a standard small car that’s low to the ground, but we managed fine. Overall, a magical cottage in a magical setting.”

“The property is set in a stunning setting, opposite Blencathra, in a really quiet location. Unfortunately, however, the cottage has a rodent problem. Each morning we'd find mouse droppings underneath the fridge, on window ledges and by the sink. On leaving we also discovered mice had chewed through one of our bags.”

“This is a really lovely and immaculately maintained property, and one that provides and excellent base for exploring the Lake District. It is very well equipped and comfortable, and also nice and quiet - just the tonic if on a break. We enjoyed cooking and relaxing and also exploring the local area, which was new to us. “The house was located in Askham where we were going to a wedding. It was super clean and so convenient. Near a pub where other friends were staying and just around the corner from the town store. “I have been to Greystoke before and I have always loved the place. But this was my first time at this property. I had to work for the first couple days during our stay. The whole experience revolved around access to hot water. I was late to work because there was no hot water. We didn’t know at that time that hot water was timed to switch off at 6:30 and if one person had a shower, then others cannot. We are a family of four and after a day of trekking, hillwalking and climbing, we did not have...
