The 156 year old Light Station is a 23 acre gem on the rugged and remote Mendocino Coast in Northern California. Home to the 115' tall Lighthouse Tower, 1896 Fog Signal Building Museum and Light Station Store and our 7 vacation cottages and studios. Surrounded on 3 sides by the Pacific Ocean and on the 4th by the Point Arena-Stornetta Unit of the California Coastal National Monument, the Light Station offers the most unique lodging option on the Mendocino Coast. Watch for migrating gray and humpback whales, enjoy the resident harbor seals bobbing in the water, watch the various seabirds fly by and marvel at the ever changing skies, waves and views. This romantic and intimate 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom unit at the back of the Head Keeper's House was part of the home that used to house the Head Lightkeeper and his family when the Lighthouse required onsite management. Our Keeper’s Room has recently been upgraded with new headboard, nightstands and reading lights, new table and chairs for the sitting area and a wall unit housing the new mini-fridge/freezer combo and microwave. It is a comfortably-furnished, cozy room about the size of a standard Hotel room. The Keeper's Room has 1 Queen bed with a very comfortable new memory foam mattress, a full bath, electric fireplace, and a small sitting area with a table and 2 chairs. The Keeper's Room does not have a kitchen but does include a microwave, mini-fridge/freezer combo and coffee maker with provided coffee and teas. This is our most romantic and intimate vacation cottage and has one of the best views of the Lighthouse itself, right out your front door. Perfect for 1 or 2 people looking for unparalleled views of the Lighthouse and rugged North Coast. The Pacific Ocean is out your front door, the coastal mountain range and Manchester State Beach are just to the east and you are only a few steps away from the Point Arena Lighthouse Tower. A complimentary bottle of Husch wine and chocolates will be waiting in your room.

Your stay includes unlimited access to our 23 acre Outdoor Museum. The Light Station Store and Indoor Museum housed in the historic 1896 Fog Signal Building are open 10 & 3:30 daily. Free tours of the Lighthouse Tower can be arranged, visit the Fog Signal Building during business hours and talk to a Store Associate. Tours are conducted around every 20 minutes with the first Tour at 10:15 a.m. and the last around  4 p.m. Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, 3 p.m. the rest of the year. This is not a pet-friendly unit.
