The location of this property was wonderful! Walk out the door and you are right on the beach/Gulf of Mexico.....walk across the road and you are at the dock for some fishing....take a few steps and you are at the beautiful pool! The condo unit, however, was disappointing. While the size and furnishings were fine for a beach condo, there were no less than 20 issues that were problematic, some dangerous. Some of the back steps were loose; the rear screen door closure mechanism was not functional and the door slammed as you exited almost pushing you down the stairs. When we left, the master shower was non-functional with the shower valve torn out and shards of tile on the shower floor (which I cleaned up) and had been so for 8 days. We were told that a valve was on order....we waited and waited. No routine maintenance has occurred for a VERY long time. The property manager was very responsive but was unable to fix all the issues, which is a long term project....and I did not notify him about many issues until our departure. Rather than list all issues (which I sent to the property manager), I will use the space to advise the owner that we felt disrespected by the lack of normal maintenance. It appears that this property owner is only interested in the cash flow without reinvesting in the property. One other important thing that anyone who rents this property should realize. You can only reach this island by ferry, which was the best thing about this location and the worst thing about this location. We had a medical emergency while there and getting to the hospital was a difficult experience. I gave this VRBO property a 4 star rating because of the location, not because the condo was satisfactory.
