There are 2 remote controls for the TV. Take the Samsung control and turn on the power button.
If you need CABLE use SPARKLIGHT REMOTE and point at small black cable box on shelf under the TV.

MAKE SURE THE CABLE BOX AND THE TV ARE BOTH ON THE SAME "SOURCE"
I.E. LOOK IN BACK OF TV AND MAKE SURE THE HDMI CABLE IS PLUGGED IN. IT SHOULD BE IN "HDMI 1" YOU CAN VERIFY THIS BY PRESSING THE "SOURCE" BUTTON ON THE SAMSUNG REMOTE TV. THE TV SOURCE AND THE CABLE BOX BOTH HAVE TO BE ON "HDMI 1"
