Welcome to the Elk House! 4 Private Acres/Close to Hiking and Lake Quinault!

  • The Elk House is the Quinault Rain Forest's best kept secret and we are back in business! This 2 bedroom, 2 bath open-concept home was built in 2006 and sits on 4 acres of private land for you to enjoy and explore. It's hard to decide where the yard ends and nature begins. Barbeque on the 280 sq. ft. covered porch and watch for Roosevelt Elk that often graze in the front field, sometimes as close as 30 feet from the house! Get cozy next to the gas fireplace under 17 foot vaulted ceilings and watch for bald eagle, black-tail deer and great blue heron--regular visitors of the property. Enjoy the outdoor fire pit area and stargaze on clear summer nights. Explore nearby Zeigler Creek, picnic under a giant Maple tree and take leisurely walks around the property. The Elk House property is tranquility at it's best!

    If you want to venture out, drive, bike or walk the South Shore Road and discover nearby hiking trails, explore the World's Largest Spruce Tree, visit the famous glacier-fed Lake Quinault, or jump in your car or take a guided tour of the 31 mile loop drive into the Olympic National Park to see spectacular waterfalls, giant evergreen trees and wildlife. Whether you are here to experience outdoor recreation or just get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, the Elk House is the perfect place for you to rest and rejuvenate.

    While staying at the Elk House you will enjoy all the comforts of home. A fully functional kitchen with double convection oven and gas cook top, full-size built-in microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator allows you to enjoy family dining in a private and pristine setting. The open-concept kitchen/dining room/living room creates a family atmosphere that can't be beat! Take refuge in the 350 sq. ft. open loft with a large picture window or in the private suite on the main floor.

Absolutely beautiful property. Having access to the creek was just great. Home was clean and as advertised with plenty of space for 3 of us.

Tranquil and cozy place in a wonderful location, just off the beautiful Lake Quinault.We felt welcome and privileged to stay here.Our toddler grandson was fascinated by the kids books and toys he found.Many thanks to our hosts for being so thoughtful in every detail and for this opportunity!

The cabin is a destination in itself, the property is large with a great view and very close to numerous hikes that were all great for our young children. We really liked the creek and managed to catch a glimpse of one elk one morning. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. The dining table is rather small with high seats that may be difficult for children. But the benches on the porch, the camp chairs, and the picnic blankets we brought from home meant that eating was no problem and lots of fun.

Wonderful cabin in a convenient location for exploring the Quinault rain forest, a quieter spot to enjoy Olympic National Park. We hiked several of the nearby trails, went for a swim in the lake (cold but worth it!), and spent time skipping stones at the river just east of the property. We went grocery shopping in Aberdeen before arriving so that we'd have enough food for the entire stay, as there didn't seem to be grocery stores or many (reasonably priced) restaurants in the area. The cabin was comfortable and spacious. The loft area with a trundle bed is part of the second bedroom and not a separate loft space. The set up worked for our family of 4 upstairs in the loft bedroom and our friends (family of 3) in the downstairs bedroom. Their tween son slept on a nice foldable cot/bed at the foot of the main bed. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and views from the cabin and played hide and seek in the yard. We highly recommend this cabin for your next vacation!

Beautiful getaway

Wonderful stay with excellent amenities; it was a real treat to be on the property and so close to Lake Quinault. I would have liked the online listing to have included the large chore list (ie starting laundry, stripping the beds of linens, taking out the trash) that needed to be done on the day of departure.

The home was in a beautiful setting, was very clean, and had comfortable beds. We enjoyed our stay. Our one minor issue was not getting a response from the owner about a question, but ultimately our concern was minor and didn’t impact our trip (we wated to watch Sunday Night Football and the remote wasn’t working). We got to see som elk, and, again, the setting really is beautiful. So quiet and serene. We would stay again.

Secluded house with a view

We loved all the hikes that are within 10 minutes from the house in Olympic National Forest. There were a few kid toys for the littles and the kitchen was well equipped. The view of the mountains was lovely and we were visited by black tail deer and an elk herd.

The house is spacious and well appointed. The highlight was the Elks arriving at dusk to feed. There were close to 30! The Lake Quinalt area is quiet and not overrun with people.

Beyond Expectations

Beautiful stay. Pictures do not do it justice. We loved the property and home and wish we could have stayed one more night. Didnt see any Elk, but that was fine, because we just enjoyed the comfort of the home.
