We chose this VRBO because it advertised being “3 blocks” from Mayo Clinic Hospital – Saint Marys Campus. In reality, it is closer to 8–10 city blocks. For most, that may be an inconvenience. For us, it was a major issue. My husband is a veteran in a wheelchair and I am an amputee. The route also includes steep hills, making access far more difficult than represented. When I contacted the owner, they offered to let us out of the 20-day stay, we did search to but there was no immediate alternative housing, and knowing this owner manages 18 properties in the area, we were concerned about moving only to end up in another one of their rentals in similar condition. We chose to stay and deal with what we knew. The home was not clean. There were dirty dishes in the cabinets and dog waste throughout the yard. The property is in disrepair—loose toilet sear, the other was a barely functional non-working toilet, and appliances not functioning properly. We documented a long list but chose not to pursue it further after being told our dissatisfaction was due to our “situation.”This company presents their properties as a “blessing” and leans on faith-based messaging to build trust. That was not our experience. This stay was not a blessing—it was a lesson. Future renters, especially those with accessibility needs, should verify distance, terrain, and condition carefully before booking
