Great apartment in a perfect location - just far enough out from the centre, but within an easy walk of most of central Rome’s attractions. Veruska was the perfect host, with good communication before our visit, and a very simple check-in. The apartment is also a short distance from Ostiense station, which is handy if coming from Fiumicino by train.
The local area (Testaccio, with Trastevere just the other side of the river) is really a destination in its own right, and we spent quite a few evenings sampling some fantastic local places to eat (can thoroughly recommend Remo in Testaccio and Checco in Trastevere). There’s a lot to see locally too, with the Mouth of Truth very close by, and some beautiful examples of Baroque sculpture in local churches. Can particularly recommend S. Cecilia, for the altar sculpture, the frescos, and the crypt chapel. Again locally, the Centrale Montemartini (Roman sculpture displayed amongst the machinery of an old power station, itself a wonderful building) is a must. The Parco Savello, again just up the road, offers some fabulous views over Rome from its high vantage point, equal to the views from the Janiculum Hill.
To summarise: great apartment, excellent host, fascinating local area, and good location for most of the major attractions. Didn’t want to leave…
