8/10
Overall, we had a lovely week long stay at Whispering Pines. The check-in process was extremely easy, instructions for the home are posted on the living room wall and make figuring everything out a breeze (wifi passwords, locks for the doors and hot tub, etc). There was plenty of space for us and our adult children and we all were very comfortable in the home. The kitchen is well appointed and made cooking easy as well. The wrap around porch was nice and convenient for dining outdoors and grilling out. Vicky, the host, was very responsive. The “cons” are pretty minimal, but still worth mentioning. The photos online of the outdoor area are a bit deceptive. The hot tub is nice, but we didn’t use it as much as I thought we would because it is literally a few feet from the road, so not very private. The porch was nice to enjoy evenings, but during the day there was the constant hum of bulldozers and cars and trucks driving by on the two main roads that pass the front of the house. I understand there’s a lot of rebuilding happening in the area due to wildfires from last year, but we were hoping for a quiet, peaceful retreat for relaxing instead of a construction zone. The house is approximately 15 minutes from the Midtown area, so also not as close as we thought it would be, but it was an easy drive to town. Housekeeping could have done better, but I notified host. She said she’d address it. Overall, it was a good stay, we just expected more for the price.
