  • Welcome to our 2 bedroom, 2 bath guest retreat located directly adjacent to Sabattus Lake with water access and a newly designed outdoor space w fire pit oasis to relax w your family and friends. Breathtaking views, beautiful sunsets, water activities, and creating special family memories await you. The home has been completely renovated and is centrally located to Maine attractions such as LL Bean, riverfront restaurants in Hallowell, as well as the Old Port in Portland Maine. Whether it's reading a book in the quietness of the Maine woods, kayaking on the lake, hiking w friends, or cooking some amazing food in the crisp lake air, you'll experience the beauty of Maine when you rent this guest retreat.

Gem of a place to stay visiting our Bates student! House was roomy, very clean, and beds were comfy. Great communication with the hosts. Hope to stay again in warmer weather so we can take advantage of the outdoor spots- balcony on each floor, fire pit area, and lake access.

Great retreat!

This was a great place to spend the weekend. Spent the day out on the ice and came in to a shower that was very hot and had great pressure. The place was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Would love to stay here again at some point.

Graduation Weekend at Sailors Rest

We spent Bates Graduation weekend at Sailors Rest. Paul and Kevin were fabulous hosts and Sailors Rest was the perfect port in the bittersweet graduation storm. I do hope we’ll be back.

Wonderful getaway, lovely hosts

We were delighted by our stay at Sailor's Rest. The location was beautiful and hosts so accommodating. We came for a weekend to visit Bates. Nice to have such a comfortable and calm respite for us and our dog!

Quiet near the lake

The owners are on site and are very respectful and wonderful people. Quiet area with a very short walk to the lake. Great location with short drives to Freeport, Lewiston, and Brunswick. Would stay again!

The Perfect Maine Getaway

:Our stay in Wales, Maine was bliss from start to finish! The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, and utensils, making it easy to prepare meals. Both upstairs and downstairs were beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The fresh, clean linens added to the comfort. Communication with our host, Paul, was excellent—friendly, responsive, and helpful. My ten-year-old even enjoyed some fishing during our visit! Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we would definitely visit again.

Woodland Escape.

We very much enjoyed our stay in Paul’s guesthouse. It was roomy and comfortable. Plenty of towels and kitchen equipment. The area is quiet and naturally beautiful.

Family Reunion

Our oldest child moved to Maine and this was our first chance to visit. This property was perfect for us because it was so close to him. We certainly didn't want to cram into his studio apartment! He appreciated the home cooked meals he got and we had fun just hanging out as a family.

A lovely getaway!

We had a lovely time here over the weekend for a last minute getaway out of the city. The property was clean and the hosts were very considerate, and put out towels and the lake toys for us! The property is definitely steep, so be mindful if you have young kids or older family. Overall, an easy and beautiful stay.

Peaceful stay

We enjoyed our stay in this peaceful location while visiting our son at Bates. The house was as described with everything you could possibly need; very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed walking down to the dock with our coffee in the morning and relaxing around the fire pit with our wine in the evening. Communications with the host were great!

Great weekend by the 'pond'

We very much enjoyed Sailor's Rest. It was perfect for our three generation family. Paul and Kevin were great hosts, very accommodating and checked in with me by text throughout the stay to make sure all our needs were met. I would recommend Sailor's Rest to anyone looking for a nice getaway by a lake! Thank you Paul and Kevin!

Sailors Rest

We had a peaceful stay at the guesthouse. The guesthouse is conducive to both a family get away or a ladies weekend away! Paul was also available to answer any questions. We will be back!

Beautiful and Relaxing

Fun, relaxing stay. Enjoyed the beautiful sunsets over the lake and the lovely surrounding area on long walks with our dog. Place was clean with a nice kitchen were we often cooked meals. Good communication with host. Good internet allowed us to work remotely at times. Would highly recomend.

Relaxation Destination

Paul was an amazing host, so accommodating, and Sailor's Rest exceeded our expectations. Our goal was to relax and unwind and we did just that. The home had everything we needed to be at home away from home, with the added bonus of a gorgeous lake. More than once a family member commented to me how they felt so relaxed and at home on this vacation. We made many memories and if we're back in the area will definitely stay again.

Great spot!

We really enjoyed this home which is close to Lewiston but in a secluded and peaceful place. The home is very clean, well stocked (although we did not cook), and private. Paul was very responsive and a great host! We would highly recommend booking here if available. Thank you Paul!
