WOW, it’s hard to find a correct response to such an inconsiderate and deceitful review filled with so many lies and inaccuracies. In over 50 emails and texts Ms. Brill sent me during her stay, NOT ONE WORD or NOT ONE COMPLAINT of my home being dirty, dusty, hairy or buggy, inside or out. If so, I would have sent the housekeeper out IMMEDIATELY as per my check in instructions. As a Premiere Host, available 24/7 for my guests, I continually strive for a 5 star experience. My cleaning crew is NOT paid until Sunday nights to insure my guests are 100% satisfied with my home. The week these guests stayed, record setting heatwaves hovered between 95-100 each day and when I was notified the AC was at 78 and not getting any cooler I had my HVAC company that I have a maintenance contract with, out there the same day. After receiving communication from the guest, the AC was working great after their call, in a couple days it had reached high 70’s again. Called technician again, who came out the same day again to resolve the issue. Due to the high humidity in the upstairs portion of the house ( most likely from patio doors and curtains being open) and especially in the attic, the technician assured me the unit was working fine as they ran multiple diagnostics, they identified a couple ducts that needed attention the first technician missed.I approved the duct repair, however Ms Brill refused to let them come back until after she and her guests left. Ms Brill also refused my offer of 1) placing 2 window units I had, to assist in cooling the upstairs or 2) purchasing a portable/movable, high end AC unit, that day, to assist in cooling down the upstairs. My handyman was ready to go and bring out either of these solutions. As far as things “falling apart” the guest told me about a robe hook falling off the bathroom door and a toilet paper side loose or falling off, ( both of which just needed tightening with an Allen wrench) which I apologized. She tried to tell me the bunk bed slats were broken, only to find out (after she sent a picture), 2 of the slats had just become misplaced off the track, probably from changing the sheets and were easily moved back in place. That’s it! Again, not one word or complaint from this guest about dirt, bugs, stains, hair, NOTHING until this review, 2 weeks after check out. Remarkably, the next two sets of guests, never had an issue with the HVAC, which leads me to believe these issues were exasperatedby Ms Brill & guests.

This is our primary residence and the first year, (last year was the first year of renting, but only downstairs) we rented upstairs floor. In the instructions sent to the guests, I explained in detail, the largest dresser (over 5 ft with 5 large drawers & side storage) was available to use, as well as almost all of one complete large walk in closet in that bedroom.w/ more shelves & 2 rods. The guests either ignored that or choose to not read it. I also left spices, flour, sugar, oil, vinegar & condiments I thought guests would appreciate for a short stay. Further, the downstairs bedroom closets have things like extra linen or blankets or items guests are encouraged to use, like 20 games, books, movies, toys, stuffed animals and play items: balls, model planes, kites, diving items, etc. We also chose to leave upstairs, medical health items people don’t normally bring on vacation. but may be in need of like, peroxide, aspirin, bandaids, aloe Vera gel, bug spray, antacids, muscle rub, etc We’ve found people like having those in case of sickness, minor accidents or injuries. With that being said, the guests called me immediately & told me they were offended at seeing our socks and underwear in the dresser we asked them not to use. Although I didn’t address that detail they ignored, I apologized profusely and told them I could 1) have my housekeeper back there in about an hour to remove our clothing from the 2 smaller dressers (ones we asked them not to use) or 2) have her come out anytime the next day, at their convenience day or morning to remove any and all items from the residence they found in their way or offensive or 3) they were welcome to remove the items of clothing or health items themselves, put them in clean trash bags and I’d have my housekeeper, come & put it in the storage area under house, if they didn’t want to be disturbed. I NEVER heard back from her that night or the next day. In a discussion later in the week she explained, her son in law said people rent their home and it’s normal to leave things and have a lockout. I explained items in closets, medicine cabinet, limited condiments, books, toys for them to use. Nothing, no response, so I assumed she was okay. There are 2 refrigerators and a freezer (half empty) available???????? Regardless we’ve removed our items from the 2 other smaller dressers in the primary bedroom. “You can give some people a rose, & all they see are thorns.” My other reviews honestly speak for themselves.

Thanks for the lovely review, and I appreciate you taking the time to do that. I’m so sorry about the chairs. You’re my first guests this season, just spring cleaned everything inside and out, including the patio furniture and I had no idea any of the chairs (I’m assuming the white swivel ?), were in a state of disrepair, as I sat in most of them as I was cleaning the arms and cushions. The inside chairs around the table are new, and there are 10 chairs/seating outside on the deck (8 regular and 2 new chaise loungers). Since we talked, texted, or emailed many times during the week, after your arrival, I always communicate to guests to let me know if something is not acceptable right sway. If I had known which chairs or chair were/was in disrepair or not comfortable, I could have addressed it right away and changed them. I have numerous extra chairs, under the house, in storage, or on the upstairs deck I could have replaced it/them for you. Or we could have moved the 4 brown chairs to the larger table and put the white chairs ( if they didn’t suit your needs) around the smaller game table outside. I’m so sorry, Diane, I could have assisted and would have been happy to offer solutions to the situation immediately, so the four of you would have been happy sitting outside at the larger/eating table. Thanks for letting me know though. I will communicate with the people downstairs immediately about this to insure the situation is resolved I’m happy you enjoyed your stay and loved seeing the dolphins and wildlife. Still, after living here 21 years, it still takes my breath away and I stop whatever I’m doing to watch them. Please come back and see us. Thanks again for your feedback and choosing our home. Our rental agreement information does state that the house is on the market and we always politely request, if asked, and give a 24- hour advance notice for any potential buyer that wants to take a quick peek on your floor, if they can’t view it on a turnaround day or when it’s not occupied. I would also not ask if a renter specifically requests not to be bothered, as I’ve had renters request that as well. We hope you’ll come back again to visit!
