We had a great visit to the Salvo area. The house is cozy and well appointed. The distance to the beach is a bit of an inconvenience, but we were aware of that before we booked.

Enjoyable

Beautiful location. Wish we had more time there! The house is fantastic and so is the yard. Very private (perfect for a dog). We felt comfortable and safe. Very close to the beach which was important to us. Any issues we faced were addressed and made up for by owner of property.

Don’t pass this one by.

My family has stayed at Vrbo homes in the past but this one has truly thought of all the extras! They have a pack n’play and high chair for a baby as well as dog beds and bowls for your furry companion. We stayed over Thanksgiving and found every single thing needed to cook an entire holiday meal. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for an off the beaten path beach experience. Home also has a more private backyard area than any other homes in the area. WONDERFUL experience!

Beach wedding!

We book this house as a back up for overflow guests, true it is not on the beach but you can walk to the beach and the ice cream place which is delicious! So many helpful amenities extra dog bed, pack and play, full size beach towels. Fire pit is good the hot tub motor is a little loud and you can occasionally hear sounds from the busy road But it is a very private outdoor space. I loved it for 6 people max.

Comfortable and just as described, with absolutely zero issues. Our family had a great time, house was clean and ready, well equipped, and we loved being right next door to the rental shop and a block away from the ice cream shop

10 minute walk to dunes

I’m Easy to find after helpful emails and messages from host. Very clean on arrival with nice fluffy bath towels and beach towels wrapped in plastic on the beds. Internet and TV’s provided good service. Kitchen supplied with a coffee maker with a built in Keurig machine plus a generous supply of ground coffee, coffee pods, coffee mate and sweeteners. Beach access is a 10 minute walk to the dunes then a further few minutes up and down to the wide expansive beautiful beach. Waterman’s beachfront bar is 5 minute drive away for meals and drinks. Although the exterior of house had a kind of dated appearance the interior was comfortable. There is traffic noise as it’s right on Hwy 12 so not very peaceful and the house design did not include any outside dining space. There is a small deck off the living area where the grill is located. The downstairs area where the hot tub is located is completely covered and dark. The management company should be made aware that the outside grill was dirty on arrival and the propane ran out on our second night so we were unable to grill as planned. Very inconvenient. This is a common problem with rental properties and the host has little control over it.

Long weekend away

My family enjoyed a wonderful long weekend away at Life's a Reel Beach. Great location and only a short walk to the beach. Salvo is a great area to which you can enjoy your privacy and more of a natural beach feel.

It was just me and my husband .We had a really nice time .The house was great . the walk to the beach was a little long . We ended up driving to local beach because it was such a long walk to the beach and because of the weekend before the beach had washed away and there wasn't much of a beach ,but understood that and we managed. It was nice just relaxing and getting away .

Great place!

We had an excellent time at Life's a Reel Beach. Beach access was a short bike ride away. The accomodations were clean, well supplied, and comfortable. Hanging on the deck with the hot tub at night was a blast! The only thing I would recommend is to bring some mosquito repellent (we usually use the essential oil ones but we had to go get some with deet) and some citronella candles. They were super aggressive while we were there. No fault of the home or homeowners, just part of being near the beach. Overall we were very happy with this rental and had a great time! We will definitely be renting again :)

Family Fun!

Clean and well appointed house with all the kitchen necessities necessary to make for a great family vacation! Hot tub is well maintained and clean, fire pit is great for family smores. Short walk to beach access once across the dune a beautiful beach for swimming and sunning. Great walking, running, and biking trail.

Fun and relaxing

We had a good time during our stay. The house had very good amenities and common supplies. It was stocked with everything we needed. We only needed to buy groceries. Would stay again. Manager was quick to respond as well.

Good house

We enjoyed our stay in the Outer Banks at this location. The home was very clean, the check-in process was easy, and the fresh towels were a very nice touch. The walk to the beach is pretty far so be prepared for that if you intend on visiting the beach frequently. Overall very nice

Very Relaxing

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in late April. We just needed a quick getaway from home in Norfolk, va. The house was perfect. Cheerfully and well decorated ( that's always important to me) plenty of light, well stocked kitchen. The hot tub was a hit as well. Comfortable beds/good showers....very very clean. We used the outdoor grill one night. If it hadn't rained I am sure we would have enjoyed the firepit. We made the most of our getaway despite not so great ( rainy) weather. We've always loved Hatteras island and find it's less busy/ less commercial pace very calming. Communication with Michael was excellent!! Highly recommend!!

Cozy as promised

It was our first outer banks trip for the labor day long weekend. This place, as promised was cozy, welcoming and fantastic check-in experience. On top of it, it provides walking / <4 minute driving distance to see awesome sunset and sunrise on both ends. Allowing my puppy to stay made this even more "meaningful" trip - overall, we enjoyed from checkin to checkout, the thoughtful games, nice hot tub, stock of clean linen and towels, kitchen with all amenities within the house, and the nearby ice cream shop and the waves grocery was a big bonus for kids to relax in the evenings... we loved this stay and enjoyed the long weekend relaxed!

Hidden gem in the OBX

I have absolutely nothing but great things to say about our stay in this property! Everything was exactly as listed. The hosts put together a “welcome book” that is extremely helpful and really well put together. The house was clean and comfortable; it has pretty much everything you need; the hosts were amazing, gracious, and always quick to respond; the house is somewhat centrally located, and yet very private; hot tube was hot and ready for us after our 10hr drive; the grounds are very well maintained and nice to hang around in; the decks are great and spacious. The property was also very welcoming to our two dogs: bowls and extra poop bags readily available. My only suggestion for future guests is: if you are super particular about your beach chairs, bring your own. We will definitely rebook this property for our next beach trip!

Loved it!!

We travelled from MA to OBX and stayed at 'LIfe's a Reel Beach' during our kids spring break. Right from the moment we arrived at the house, we were blown away with the attention to details that the host (Micheal) has put in to make his guests feel at home. This house is great for small family (we are a family of five, that includes our dog). The backyard provides the privacy that we need and the rooms are clean and spacious. We had an issue with the hot tub and one email to Michael and this was fixed in no time. My kids had a wonderful time and we will stay here when we visit OBX again. All tourists destination are easy to get to from this location and there are groceries, gas, restaurants, beaches very close by. This house is adjacent to a surf store. We will recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quite stay and
