The room is excellent. The Oak and Amber had good food and good service, but had some problems. The tables for two are too long and make conversation difficult becasue of the distance between the seats. It was also hard to hear the wait staff because the room has a very high ceiling and the sound just disappears. Finally, the tables have no table cloths, which I expect at a luxury restaurant.
The restaurant on the 17th floor gives an excellent view of the city and the cocktail I had was excellent. The chips and salsa were also marvelous as was the wait staff.
There was one gigantic problem. I was there during NOISA celebrations and the band playing in the park next to the hotel created deafening noise making sleep, conversation, and watching television impossible until they quit sometime after 11:00. Because of the distance only the constant banging of the drums and bass pounded into my ears for hours.I would definitely check to make sure no event is happening that would have bands playing there if I were to visit again. The staff did understand my discomfort and compensated me with some Hilton honors points, but the noise made the evening very unpleasant. The points did not make up for a ruined night that I would have paid money to avoid.
