Hey Joshua! Yes, the place is meant for 2 adults and kiddos for best comfort. I clean the carpets often and I ask guests to remove their shoes while they are inside the house to try and keep carpets stay in good shape- but most people do not remove their shoes Hawaiian style and this makes for a less than perfect carpet-sorry! I am getting it cleaned now and hopefully future guests will help and keep their shoes outside while indoors- aloha

Hi good morning! i would like to explain this situation, for we are completely innocent and tried our best to make everything correct. I was out of town, at hospice for my Mother in Utah and had everything set for the arrival of a family in our downstairs unit (this one here) and for an upstairs arrival. I put signs on the door to identify where the guests go. I leave detailed instructions beforehand, on how to access units, and i am available anytime for clarification. In ten years, no-one has made this mistake! John who was scheduled to stay upstairs in the studio, for some reason, he and his Wife, went into the unit with the Smart family name on the door. When Mrs. Smart notified me, i had my Son who lives on site, handle the situation. John was apologetic and realized his mistake. I extended to the Smart group, that they could stay one night upstairs since it was clean, and next morning move into their original spot. John was willing to move up to his place right away. The Smart group reacted and were taking my calls and i was doing everything to make the situation good. Santa Barbara is so safe, there was no issue but the Smart group were very put out, and making demands. Next morning, the cleaning crew took care of the mix up. Yes, it must have been a shock to see "Goldilocks" in their bed, but sheesh it was a mistake! The Smarts decided to take a hotel, and we of course refunded their money in full. The next day Mrs. Smart threatened us with a bad review. She said if we paid for her hotel and Uber rides, etc. she wouldn't write a bad review since she had properties in Florida. At this point, we did all we could to make the situation better, and did not appreciate the Smarts trying to take advantage of an error done on the behalf of another guest. John was willing to pay for his misunderstanding, but we did not require him to do this. We are a Mom and Pop establishment and respect our guests and try hard to go beyond their expectations. It bothers us that Mrs. Smart tried to take advantage of this mix-up, and threaten we pay for all sorts of their own personal costs. In a world where people are facing hardships, it would be nice for people to be understanding, and pleasant. The Smarts are the ones who are not safe, and exploit any mistake to benefit themselves. I suppose there are always a few bad apples! I will take this moment to thank all our visitors and families who have stayed with us, and appreciate their kindness and humanity! Happy Holidays!
