A home from home in the hills / mountains of Eastern Algarve. The pictures are accurate, this villa is very well equipped with a wonderful pool overlooking a picturesque valley. We spent very relaxing 3 weeks in the villa with a mix of family and friends. Barry and Tina went above and beyond as hosts and dealt with all queries in a prompt manner. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Well kitted out!

Very Nice place and was nice location. We normally have complete privacy altogether, but did not realise that owners were living on site as well so did not feel very comfortable. Also something needs to be done towards the entrance of the property, as the gravel we did not navigate that well to get through the gates!!! maybe just us. Gardener was needed, lots of leaves in and around pool. Not keen on cats (allergies) and there are 4 roaming on site. sorry for nagativity but had to be honest.

A Perfect Retreat

Our stay at this stunning Algarve villa was truly unforgettable. The elegant, spacious home with breathtaking views offered complete privacy and tranquility—perfect for relaxation. Beautifully designed, it features an open-plan living area, modern kitchen, large terrace, and an impressive private pool with panoramic views. The bedrooms, especially the master suite with its whirlpool bath and 360-degree views, were exceptionally comfortable. Ideally located—peaceful yet close to beaches and charming towns like Tavira and Olhao. Hosts Tina and Barry were warm and helpful. We can’t wait to return!

Wonderful Hosts

The villa has a wonderful view of the valley, a fully equipped kitchen and outstanding pool in a peaceful rural location. Tina and Barry went to great lengths to make our stay as comfortable as possible and were always available and closeby. We found it took 30-45 minutes to the beach and be prepared for a steep, gravel driveway.

Outstanding Experience

First visit to Algarve, and this property absolutely made our stay simply brilliant, hosts Barry and Tina incredibly hospitable. The home has everything, I mean everything you require and then some. Kitchen is a chef's dream and the modern grocery store 3 KM's away has all you need. Lunches at Algarve restaurants are legendary, Tavira has a great spot - Mares - and the value for money off the charts. Place is as quiet as the night, bedding excellent and Roku TV's have excellent movie apps loaded for your enjoyment. Never used the pool, turned cool during our stay. You'll have to search hard to find any better VRBO country villa, driving in Portugal painless. Thanks again to Barry and Tina for a truly memorable experience.

Delightful villa in a great location

Lovely villa - indoors and outdoors. Barry and Tina were very welcoming and helpful. Villa is so handy for Sao Bras de Aportel and Tavira. Would recommend a visit to Tavira Island. We used the recommended Amoita car hire company and had absolutely no complaints about car or staff. Hope to return in the not too distant future (-:

A perfect location for a beautiful holiday

What a fabulous villa. You read all the reviews and hope the reality matches. This villa beats it. Everything you read is accurate. From the lovely welcome from Christina and Barry to the cleanliness to the beautiful pool. It is the perfect location for any type of holiday. Lying by the pool to going to the beach or sightseeing in the hills, everything is within easy travelling distance. We would suggest a car is a must have. One word of warning, when you first arrive the steep drive is a bit daunting especially with a full car 😁 This is a perfect villa in a lovely location.

We had such a lovely time at Barry and Tina's wonderful villa We have never stayed at a villa with such level of comfort from the sunbeds to the beds! The kitchen was so well equipped with everythng you could need although we only had one bbq if you wanted to cook at the villa every appliance was available The pool and patio area were top notch and it was wonderful to watch the swifts dip in and out of the pool to cool off The view over the valley was simply breathtaking and the best outlook you could wish for Barry and Tina were wonderful hosts and very friendly and having them live on site (albeit very discreet) was not a problem and if anything was quite a comfort if needed We hope to be back next year and would recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday in a beautiful area

Wonderful home, great location—owners very responsive to ensure a 5 star stay!

Our stay was amazing, Barry and Tina were very welcoming from the beginning and throughout our stay! The home was so clean and comfortable, and well equipped. Location was phenomenal with great views, and allowed us to easily explore Seven Hanging Valleys hike, Benagil cave, and Faro. Would highly recommend!

One of the nicest places we stayed in

Barry and Tina have a beautiful place, well maintained, well stocked with every day items except food of course and it has a spectacular view. They were extremely helpfull in arranging transportation for us from the train to their location and were always easy to contact and quick to respond. We had my son and his family with us (grand kids 5 and 8) who loved the place. My son is an avid cook and fell in love with the large and well equipped kitchen. The grandkids had lots of room both inside and out to play and was a great way for them to adjust after the long trip from Canada. As well they had lots of sele tion on their smart tv's to keep everyone including the grandkids entertained in the evening. Overall I would highly recommend Barry and Tinas villa to anyone who wants a beautiful quiet place outside of a busy city.

Impeccably clean and well equipped.

The property is spotlessly clean throughout with exceptionally comfortable outdoor furniture for both poolside lounging and dining. The kitchen has every convenience and appliance from a plentiful supply of glassware, cookware and utensils to a pasta maker. In my opinion, it is doubtful you would find more convenient and comfortable accommodations anywhere. In addition, proximity to many day-trip destinations provides for an easy manner in which to fill your itinerary. Do not forget to ask your host about the outstanding Ysconderijo! it would be very difficult (perhaps even unreasonable) to be critical of this home and hosts.

Paradise!

What a stunning property this is. We have been renting villas in and around this area for almost 25 years and this is by far the best equipped and most well maintained property we have ever stayed in. We invariably spend the first few hours of our holiday complaining that "this doesn't work", "that's broken", "I can't get any wifi", "there are no hangers in the wardrobe", "there was supposed to be a DVD player" etc. etc. Not at Quinta Fonte do Cascalho, from the moment we walked in it was obvious that everything had been catered for and all to the highest possible standard. The house is generously proportioned with good sized rooms and a spectacular Master bedroom suite, air conditioned throughout and all spotlessly clean. The outside areas were also immaculate, the garden is very pretty and we particularly liked the large pool area and its incredible views across the countryside. Just stunning! The location is fantastic, it was lovely not to be overlooked or disturbed in any way. Aside from the occasional crow of a cockerel and the Cicadas it was absolute tranquility. As well as offering total peace and quiet we loved the fact that the house is only a few minutes drive from some excellent restaurants, well stocked supermarkets and other amenities. It also offers a great base for exploring locations further afield such as Faro, Tavira and Vilamoura etc. Tina and Barry were the perfect hosts and we literally wanted for nothing. We loved it and we will be back!

Brilliant time away

We spent 10 nights in this beautiful villa, we was given a very warm welcome and a tour of the villa. Everything you could possibly need or even want was available in the villa from every kitchen utensil or gadget to beech towels and even access to Netflix and Disney which was ideal for our 2 small children. Any questions or issues were dealt with in a timely manner. The location was lovely and away from any busy areas I would recommend having a vehicle however as the town was a long walk, but perfectly doable. The views around were second to none and with very little light pollution it was the perfect location for an evening under the stairs enjoying a cheeky drink or 2.

Séjour Fabuleux

La maison et les prestations (piscine, mobilier extérieur, BBQ...) sont de très grande qualité et conformes à l'annonce. Le site est magnifique : calme (mais pas isolé), vue dégagée sur les montagnes, accès aux sites touristiques proches. Nous soulignons également la propreté exceptionnelle du logement et le niveau d'équipement. Enfin (et surtout!) des propriétaires, Christina et Barry, accueillants, dévoués et disponibles. Un grand merci pour ce séjour fabuleux.

Beautiful villa in the Algarve Hills

Everything about this Villa from the moment you arrive and meet the owners (Barry and Tina) is just superb. Have never had such a warm welcome - Barry even went and got us pizzas and a few beers after we had been travelling all day. A beautiful villa with a stunning view and all the wildlife (birds,butterfiles,lizards etc) especially the swallows that make it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The villa is equipped with everything you need - especially in the kitchen.It was spotlessly clean with three good sized bedrooms - two with en suite and a newly furnished shower room.Lovely sized living room with great views over the valley. The pool is of a good size and very well designed with steps either end. The villa is approx 5min drive from two supermarkets Intermache and Lidl in the local town plus a superb restaurant Ysconderijo. A car is essential with a local car hire company Amoita - highly recommended. Would highly recommend this villa and will hopefully go back one day 10/10

Amazing views and great outdoor areas. Villa had everything we needed. Only concerns were the steep driveway into the property and a lot of breakables to worry about with a busy 5-year old. We enjoyed our stay very much, though, thank you.

Magnifique propriété remarquablement bien tenue

Nous tenons à remercier Tina et Barry pour leur accueil chaleureux (champagne dans le frigo), leur disponibilité et leur bonne humeur. Leur propriété est très bien entretenue et tout est fait pour que les locataires soient heureux ! Nous étions 6 adultes et nous avons passé 2 semaines fabuleuses dans la propriété luxueuse de Tina et Barry. Les équipements de cuisine sont de très bonne qualité et nous n'avons jamais eu autant d'ustensiles et d'appareils ménagers dans une location de vacances ! Les chambres très confortables sont bien équipées ainsi que les salles de bain, tout cela digne d'un hôtel de luxe. La climatisation dans toutes les chambres et le salon-séjour, a été très appréciée ainsi que les volets électriques et les moustiquaires à toutes les fenêtres de la maison. La piscine est très grande et l'accès par des marches de chaque côté est originale et appréciable. A noter que celle-ci n'est pas chauffée. L'eau peut être parfois un peu fraîche quand il fait du vent mais elle est délicieuse les jours de beau temps. Merci Tina et Barry pour ces vacances fabuleuses au Portugal. Amitiés de nous 6.

Fabulous!

We had a fabulous 2 week holiday with our children aged 9, 12 and 14. The villa is a fantastic base, only 20 mins away from the main beaches and the airport which is great when travelling with children. Groceries are only 5 mins away. The villa is extremely spacious and fully equipped with all the necessities for all the family. It really is home to luxury home!! It is absolutely spotless!!!!!! The Internet connection is very powerful and the (very) large TV in the living room has all the UK channels plus Netflix, Prime and many more. All of the bedrooms also have all of the channels in which was great for the kids. The kitchen has literally everything you can think of! Including 2 large fridges which was very handy for cooling drinks etc.. A dishwasher, washing machine was also very handy, and I loved the outside quirky washing line which I now have to buy!!!!! It was very hot during our stay and such a luxury to have aircon in the living room and the bedrooms. It was lovely and cool when needed. Another great thing was that the windows all had full blackout shutters so we had a really good sleep which was great. We arrived at night and straightaway the kids took advantage of the lit-up pool, it was great fun!!! The pool is a really good size and we had hours of fun in it. It was lovely to eat out on the terrace as a family. It was also nice for me to have chill time reading a book under the canopy on the comfy outside suite. The view is amazing!! The owners Barry and Tina are the loveliest, most genuine people I have met. They went above and beyond to make us feel very welcome. If we needed to know anything they were at hand. They even sorted out my car hire for me at a great price and had it delivered to the villa when I had trouble finding a car. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful villa, we all had such a great time and didn't want to leave. We will definitely be visiting again 😊

Wat een fantastisch huis op een heerlijke plek!

Prachtig en goed geoutilleerd huis. Slaapkamers zijn alledrie ruim, de badkamers alledrie volledig ingericht. Prettig dat in alle kamers aparte airco hangt. De keuken heeft werkelijk alle apparatuur die je maar nodig kan hebben. Het zwembad is groot en schoon met een geweldig uitzicht. Fijn dat er voldoende schaduw is gedurende de dag. De eigenaren wonen in een appartement onder het huis, maar die zijn zeer goed in staat (in tegenstelling tot eerdere huizen waar we verbleven) je het gevoel te geven dat je 'alleen op de wereld' bent terwijl ze tegelijkertijd altijd klaar staan om te helpen. Quote van de eigenaar "it's your holiday so we will do everything we can to make you feel like you're on vacation'. Geen loze uitspraak, Barry en Tina weten het perfecte evenwicht te vinden tussen ondersteuning waar nodig en privacy. Kan alleen maar zeggen wow wow wow, een echte aanrader dit huis!

Nice House

super friendly host couple who make sure you have a good time and are well informed. They are extremely discreet even though they live close by so it was no problem for us. Super house with all the things you need and with a super view over the mountains. Nice area - but requires you to have a rental car available as it is a bit far from everything. Can definitely be recommended. Large and clean pool and the house was clean when we arrived. Can only be recommended

Serious safety concerns

We pointed out to the owner early in our stay that the drain cover on the floor of the swimming pool was completely detached exposing the outlet piping (just about the right size for a kids foot) together with a rusty bolt protruding from the pool floor. Despite our repeated requests, this had not been rectified by the time we left and the owner referred to these as minor issues. There was an electrical fire that burned out not only part of the fuse board, but also the television, two air conditioning units and multiple sockets. It was really unnerving to have to stay in this property after that with the acrid smell. Initially the owner was adamant it had been caused by a power surge and the fault of the electricity supplier, who actually attended when we were there. All conversations were in English, concluding no surge and that the problem had been caused by a poor standard of maintenance. The owner then advised us the problem had in fact been caused by his own electrical contractor who had conducted a safety check only the previous week, but had failed to reconnect the electrics properly. The remainder of our holiday was blighted by a combination of unease, a night with no air conditioning in one of the bedrooms, pretty poor mobile aircon units where emptying the condensation buckets became a nightly chore and putting up with lights turning on and off at night, unprompted, which did not help with sleeping. We also had to unplug the fridge freezer to use the washing machine (another socket burned out), which would lead to water leaking from the melting freezer (37c will do that). The fly screens had large tears which allowed cats (and flies of course) to come into the house via the damaged screens at multiple doors and windows. We advised the owner that, given our holiday experience had been materially affected by the fire, the multiple interruptions as they attended to it, together with having to bin all food in the fridge freezer, plus some of our electrics which were also irreparably damaged, we expected a partial refund. The owner proceeded to change his mind (again) on the cause of the fire, reverting to his original story that it had been caused by a surge from the electrical supply and as this was outside his control, he was not liable for our loss or spoiled holiday. Whether he was right on the cause of the fire the first time, the second time or the third time we regret staying here and could not recommend it.
