We were a Red Hat Ladies group of 5 women of a “certain age” who came to Schulenberg to see the Painted Churches. The house was the perfect place for us to stay since it is located just a short distance from the Chamber of Commerce where the tour started! Also, the house is located right across from the police department:). All five of us enjoyed the “Victorian” decor and home. It is beautifully decorated but thoughtfully done with plenty of seating and places to set luggage. Lighting is accessible and plentiful in each room. A Hoosier cabinet served as a great coffee and spice cabinet. There were many coffees and teas to choose from. The keurig worked well. You will enjoy all the rooms of the house and the many surprise little nooks and areas to use. We all sat out on the porch comfortably enjoying the evening cool breeze. The owner was so great to share much information on eateries and places to see while in this area. There was a minor glitch with opening the front door as the timer of the door did not match my watch on the time but Jesse responded quickly to assist. The thing to understand about the home is that there is one bathroom and it has a clawfoot tub so the tub may not be appropriately safe for “people of certain ages” to use. This didn’t bother the five of us since our stay was only two nights.and we did not use the tub. All five ladies said that this was such a fun, beautiful, relaxing trip and this great home provided the comfortable sleep.

Sweet stay in Schulenburg

After visiting the town of Schulenburg throughout my entire life, this was the first stay in a home other than that of my grandmother. What a truly beautiful and unique gem! The time slowed as we swung on the porch swing. I loved the lighting by each of the lamps. It was enjoyable to tour each room, wanting to spend time in each. The beds provided a sound night sleep. We were able to watch a movie on Netfiix easily. Overall, I wish I could've stayed longer here.

Painted Churches

Loved the location, so close to everything we wanted to do and see. House was decorated so well and close to period. Photos of the original family were a nice surprise. So much thought and planning went into making our stay extra special. Trains were a little noisy but otherwise everything was great! Would recommend to others.

Lovely home!

We stayed at Das Meyer Haus for 2 nights on our trip to visit the painted churches in the area. The home is lovely, the bed comfortable and the hosts provided a lot of information for the area. I deducted a star because there was a handyman working on the back of the house for the 2 days we were there. Also—please be aware that most of the restaurants are closed for dinner on Monday and Tuesday! I would advise avoiding those days for your stay.

Girl's Getaway

This was a wonderful home with plenty of bedrooms and spaces to just relax. It was the best equipped kitchen-better than my own. They had everything you could ever need for preparing and enjoying meals. The house is very nicely furnished and we enjoyed admiring all the rooms and their décor. We found enjoyable places to eat out and visited the painted churches. Overall, a great experience. Bonus-its right across the street from the police department!

Perfect Girls' Weekend

What a relaxing weekend! We loved Das Meyer Haus. So many details were thought of. We had everything we needed, Schulenburg had nice restaurants and shopping (one block over from old downtown) but not a lot of people. Dream property, if you love renovated old properties, this is the place to go!
