The Mandalay House was wonderful! We had a group of seven, but there was room for more. Plenty of room for spreading out…board games, puzzles, conversation. The 120-year-old home was full of charm - yes, even the creaky floorboards! We loved reading all about its history in the scrapbook. The proximity to the prom and beach was ideal. We were disappointed with the lack of cleanliness of the dishes and serving items. Everything else seemed very clean and well cared for. Since we visited in November, the extra blankets in the living room came in handy. A few extra switch-on lights to illuminate the deck stairs and driveway would be a plus. Thank you for a great week!

This place was an absolute delight!!! The location is a block from the beach, straight to the dunes. Lots of sand dollars to find and nice sand to play in. The house has everything you could need! Board games and toys for the kids, all the necessary kitchen appliances, as well as bathroom needs! The sunroom is delightful and perfect for lounging. The front swing was a perfect hang spot. It is very spacious and absolutely adorable!!! We look forward to staying again in the future!!

This was my first VRBO reservation, and I’m so happy with the experience! The home was rustic and charming. My kids loved it, and it was in the perfect location (close to the shops/restaurants and the beach). Would absolutely stay here again. Only issue we had was no dish soap to wash things that weren’t dishwasher safe.

Nice set up for family

Everything we needed and more for a comfortable stay. 1 bedroom down stairs with private bath and 1/2 bath also downstairs. 4 bedrooms all up stairs were roomy and beds were all comfortable along with a full bath. Super convenient location! We would stay there again.

We couldn't have been happier staying at this VRBO in Seaside. The location is absolutely perfect for beach and walking downtown. The front porch is wonderful. Any questions we had were answered very promptly. We really enjoyed our stay.

Loved the stay at Oceans Away!

This property was fantastic. The house is gorgeous (and the pictures accurately reflected that) and was perfectly located for what we needed to get to and do while in Seaside. We had a wonderful visit and wouldn’t hesitate to book again for our next Seaside trip!

Girls weekend

We had a wonderful time and loved the ambience of the house. It was clean, perfect location from beach to downtown. We had a large group and we were all very comfortable. I gave a 3 rating because the issues that other people stated in reviews still were not fixed. The upstairs toilet handle is very temperamental and falls off so easily. We could not get the dishwasher to work. It started through a cycle but then turned off or could not get it started at all. This was also a complaint from previous reviews. We ended up washing dishes by hand the whole weekend which wasn’t terrible but it’s such a beautiful commercial dishwasher was a shame we couldn’t use it. But, even after all that we would stay there again. And the management company needs to remedy the issues.

Great VRBO

This is a great rental and such an adorable home! The location is so good, a block to the beach and a few blocks to shopping. Grocery, gas and outlet mall are just a few mins away. We had a great time staying here, we all said (7 of us) we would rent here again. Like other reviews say, it is VERY creaky. The porch swing is the best! We had some trouble running the dishwasher, it didn't want to turn on via the instructions, we all tried. Finally got the top half to run, never could get the bottom to work. The handle on the upstairs toilet falls off, off and on-you just have to put it back on to flush and the floor in front of the upstair toilet is very loose. You stand there and it feels like you might fall through the floor. On our last day, someone was in the upstairs shower and it started leaking through the floor in the kitchen above the island. I called the VRBO manager and they were going to send their local team to fix. None of this is a deal breaker, this house is great! It's old, things happen just like in our day to day homes. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. The beds were very comfortable!

Fine Home, but Not Properly Cleaned

The home is spacious with many nice amenities, including a great location and several nice updates. However, we arrived to find the house not properly cleaned. The recycling hadn’t been emptied, laundry was left in the dryer, and there were old napkins tucked under the kitchen island. Some bedrooms had a faint body odor, and the patio was dirty, with the swing's sheet in disarray. It felt like the cleaners were in a rush and missed key areas. A thorough deep cleaning is definitely needed for this property. Due to these issues, we opted to leave one night early.

Everything was A+ one snag was it was being cleaned when we came at 4 to check into the house. The cleaning had about an hour before finished. Other than that it was a great stay we would love to rent it again

50th birthday girls weekend

The house is beautiful and location is amazing! 4 spaces in the driveway for parking. Huge front porch with large porch swing. It's within walking distance to the beach and the main strip for shops and food. This is an older home so the heat was a bit tricky as there are no vents upstairs. On the main floor there is one bedroom with its own bathroom and a half bath, the other 4 bedrooms and full bathroom are on the second floor. The main level bedroom gets too hot with the heat on when trying to warm up the upstairs. The upstairs definitely is a bit chillier than the main level but other than the quirkiness of the heat the house is absolutely amazing!! So much common space, books, games, towels for showering and for the beach. I highly recommend the house for any range of ages and will be back for sure! They even have plates and cups for toddlers.

Restful and Relaxing

We used all the rooms, and enjoyed the house! It is an old house and creaky, but well set up for 5 adults. Two blocks from the beach, and 5 min walk to the downtown shops. Kitchen well set up, easy cleaning/closing. The kitchen lights were flickering when using the dimmer, and some of the other bulbs in the room flickered a bit. Did not distract from a great stay.

Seaside Charm

This large open house is beautifully restored with a beach vibe. It was a short walk to the beach or to stroll on the prom and to restaurants. Very clean, updated appliances with a stocked kitchen. Beds were comfortable but the upstairs bedrooms and bath lack adequate plugins. The hardwood floors are creaky and can echo through the house. Communication with the property manager was excellent.

Family Fun

This was the most well equipped vacation home we’ve ever been to. They thought of everything which made our family’s stay a great joy. From games to ample seating, fully stocked kitchen and a beach kite for the teen, we couldn’t have asked for more.

Property Manager Doesn't Know Much

This house is a newly-remodeled, historic home close to the beach and the promenade. The house is gorgeous and the location is ideal. There are plenty of books and games to keep you busy on a rainy day. However, since the home is rented by a property manager and not the owner, there is no personal touch or extensive knowledge of the property. Here are some examples. We were told that there are no amenities for babies and that we would need to rent a pack-n-play. However, there was a pack n' play at the house along with a full set of plastic kids dining implements. There is a guest book with many of the same complaints we had (need mirrors in bedrooms, need more hooks to hang towels, dishwasher is complicated, no lightbulbs in the sunroom lamps, trundle bed is dirty, no welcome booklet, etc.) so I'm guessing the property manager doesn't read the guest book. After staying in another place rented by the owner with personal and knowledgable communication, this part of our stay was disappointing.

Relaxing

The property was very nice and it was walking distance to pretty much everything. The only issue we had was there was nothing under the throw rugs to keep them from slipping around and it caused an accident. Even then, we would definately go back! Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home!
