icing on the cake

we had a wonderful time at the hotel and with out doubt would go back. It may not be swish but with comfy beds, everywhere spotlessly clean, great freshly cooked breakfast and wonderful friendly hosts it makes it a lovely place to stay. And as they take dogs that is the icing on the cake.

Hotel is very peaceful , nice and friendly staff

We found what we expect with my family and two children. My children was happy with nice bunk bed and breakfast was great with friendly staff. Mr Gauchan Resham

A little bit "Fawlty Towers"

You would be surprised at the Hotel because it is old and knocked about but absolutely wonderful. Like stepping back in time. If you don't mind a little bit down market but quirky then this Hotel is great. The owners are incredibly nice and call you their friends. Well located in Shanklin and some rooms have sea glimpses. You will be pleased and delighted.

Een fantastische gastvrije ontvangst, schone kamers, goed en lekker ontbijt op een mooi eiland. Hotel is vlakbij mooi strand en esplanade.

Nice staff, poor hotel.

We were not satisfied with our room (no.18); It was right on the staircase where you heard noises from the reception, dining room and people walking up and down the staircase. The window faced the car park, which was noisy at times. The bath did not have a shower head! So you had to fill the bath tub everytime, but the tub itself was very old and not cleaned (fluffy surface with dust around corners!). The price we paid was too high for what we got (noting that this website adds extra 15% to the actual price).

Les propriétaires m'ont réservés un accueil chaleureux et convivial...L'établissement est un peu vétuste et mériterait "un coup de neuf (faux plafonds et tapisseries), mais la propreté est au rendez-vous. Excellente literie. L'hôtel est situé à 100 mètres de la plage de Shanklin, et à environ 500 mètres de la station de bus principale de la ville...a conseiller pour les petits budgets....bon rapport qualité/prix.

Perfect location and hosts

Just back from a weeks stay here. Bernie and Leslie are the perfect hosts always happy and eager to make your stay a good one. Location fantastic, just a few minutes walk to a long dog friendly beach, town centre, railway and bus station. Hotel is only a 2 star which is reflected in the slightly dated ensuites and some décor (no mirror in bathroom, could be a problem for a shaving man) but the service you receive is better than a lot of 5 star hotels I've stayed in. Everywhere was clean and tidy, rooms cleaned daily, even on the Sunday, towels replaced as necessary. Breakfast was plentiful. All in all a perfect place to stay for the location and the lovely hoteliers. Had a great week and didn't want to go home. Lily (the dog) is glad to be home for the rest.... Was walked off her feet all week as so many lovely places to explore.

I'm really happy that I have chosen this hotel. Room was tidy and equiped as described. Ensuite well maintained and fresh. Very bright and warm place. Staff amazing, decent breakfast. Highly recomended to everyone who is great holidays seeker :-). I will come back to this place with pleasure.

Well run and friendly hotel - no frills

A really good place to stay on a budget. Very accommodating Bernard and Lesley who own and run the Currgahmore. Nothing is too much trouble, would stay again.

Good hotel, great service, could do with make-over

A really friendly, family-run hotel in a busy seaside town. Nice quiet location with landscaped gardens. Rooms can be a bit dated with some very loud floral print wallpaper in various areas and plumbing can be a bit problematic and noisy! Bernard and Lesley make up for that with the warmest welcome imaginable and a really good home cooked breakfast too. Booked three rooms for a group event across Easter 2014 and was really pleased overall, as were our companions.

Nice and close to the beach

Lesley and Bernie were perfect hosts. The hotel is nice and close to the beach although the road to the beach is very steep. Ok walking down to the beach but hard work coming back up. The hotel food was lovely. Will definitely stay there again should we visit the Isle of Wight.

Nette Unterkunft am Strand !!

Wir sind nett und herzlich aufgenommen worden, auch haben die beiden Besitzer immer nachgefragt, und etwas Smalltalk mit uns gehalten, nette Atmosphäre. Das Hotel liegt direkt am Strand und wir konnten von unserem Fenster aus direkt aufs Meer sehen !!!

A Friendly place.

The owners, Bernie & Lesley are very nice and friendly people, whose main aim is for your to enjoy your stay. The food is very good and plentiful. Our only disappointment was our room didn't have a shower and as we were there at the hottest time, we really missed it.

Was to see the sights and remember our past visits

We never managed to get there as the day we was surposed to get there I was taken in to hospital and that is where Istayed for 8 days although the wife kept the hotel informed of my condition they still charge us the full amount for the 3 days that we was booked for I only hope they end up in my condition some day

Night Stay

The hotel was very accommodating in staying open for me whilst I was delayed due to the bad weather (weekend of the snow) room was very comfortable, clean and plenty of space. Breakfast was hot and ample, (got to watch the waistline). Carpark around the back
