“We spent a delightful time in this spacious home celebrating several family milestones. The house had many family friendly spaces and also many separate rooms when you wanted some alone time. We appreciated the firewood and materials to make s’mores! One small piece of advice would be to bring enough dishwasher pods if you plan on cooking and cleaning a couple of days they provided 2 in our case but that’s a very small inconvenience.”

“We had not all been together for almost 6 yrs and Solitude on Lay Lake was the ideal place for us to spend time together, share and make memories. The home both indoor and outdoor was set up with many places to hang out, float in lake, go boating, play corn hole or play pool or just lounge on porch swings or at fire pit - we had a great time - Thank you, Solitude!”

“Perfect place for my family to stay for baseball tournament at Hoover Met. Not too far away and plenty of grocery/restaurant options nearby. We appreciated the extra plugs at each bed and extra items for laundry etc. The couch was plenty big for seating for everyone. The only suggestions I have are more towels, wash cloths so we didn’t have to re-wash every day and a TV in the bedroom where two twins are located. “We have stayed at Shepard's retreat many times now. It is a beautiful country setting but near several cities for dining and entertainment. However, we love just spending our day outside around the pool or pond just relaxing. There are also sheep and a burrow for the kids to watch in the pasture.”

“The house setup is great. We enjoyed sitting on the covered decks with a great view overlook the Waxahatchie. The flat top grill was a big hit. The house was well stocked and very comfortable. Great location .”

“House was beautiful. High quality all the way; mattresses, kitchen appliances, furniture. Nice playroom with toys. Game room was wonderful. Only drawback was access to water; lots of steps. Hard (or impossible) for older people and small children to get down to dock.”
