“The Royal Oak is outstanding in every respect. If you're staying a night, its facilities are unusually generous and extensive; if you're eating, the menu and the food are great; and if you just want a drink, there's a bar area and plenty of seating outside. The staff are lovely. Plus there's plenty of local information, books, games and events, not to mention a farm shop. If you can tear yourself away, visit Wayland's Smithy a couple of miles away along the Ridgeway.”

“The room was really dark and I didn't like the open plan layout with the toilet in the bedroom (no privacy). The room décor was tired and the jacuzzi didn't work. Only 5 hangers which the staff quickly remedied. Lovely long decking area but it hadn't been cleaned and had no decking furniture so you couldn't sit outside. “We had a fantastic meal, nights stay and breakfast at The Feathered Nest Inn, it was a great experience. Right from the start we felt welcomed, the room was spotless and the views overlooking the countryside was idyllic. The food was incredible, some of the best food we have ever eaten and to top of off, breakfast was just as good. We are already planning our visit back!”
