Inspired by a fictional local legend, The Lumber House tells the story of Elias Thorn, a legendary lumberjack whose woodworking skills supposedly helped shape early Sioux Falls. While the story itself is fictional, the home embraces that lumberjack spirit through its wood-inspired design, cozy atmosphere, and rustic charm throughout the space.

Nonrefundable Processing Fee: A 3.3% payment processing fee applies to all reservations and will not be refunded, even if the reservation otherwise qualifies for a refund.


Inside, you’ll find comfortable furnishings, inviting living spaces, and thoughtful modern touches that make it perfect for weekend getaways, business trips, small family visits, couples’ retreats, or a fun night out in Sioux Falls. The home features a comfortable bedroom, a cozy living area, and a sofa sleeper for added flexibility.

Guests also have access to a shared game room featuring a pool table and TV, creating a fun space to relax, compete, and unwind during your stay. 🎱

The home also includes central A/C and heating, helping guests stay comfortable during every season.

The home is set up for convenient self check-in, and detailed check-in instructions will be provided prior to arrival. Please note that some spaces, including the game room and outdoor areas, may be shared with the neighboring home on the same lot.

Mid-Term Guest Policy:

For stays of 28 days or longer, the following requirements must be completed prior to check-in:

📌 Background Check: Required for each person staying, at a cost of $50 per person.
📌 Signed Lease Agreement: Must be completed and on file for all guests.
📌 Host Approval: Guests must pass the background and credit check requirements set by the host.

📌 Starter Supplies: Starter supplies such as coffee, toilet paper, paper towels, toiletries, and similar essentials are provided for the initial stay only. These items will not be replenished during long-term stays, and guests will be responsible for purchasing any additional supplies needed after the starter supply runs out.

Maximum Occupancy:
The home accommodates up to 3 guests. Please make sure your reservation accurately reflects the total number of guests staying overnight.

No Smoking or Vaping:
Smoking, vaping, or tobacco use is not allowed inside the home, garage, game room, or near open doors/windows. Additional cleaning fees may apply for violations.

No Parties or Events:
Parties, large gatherings, and events are not permitted. Please be respectful of the home, shared spaces, and surrounding neighbors.

Quiet Hours:
Please keep noise to a respectful level, especially in the evening and overnight. This is a residential area, and guests are expected to be mindful of neighbors and other guests on the property.

Pets:
Pets not allowed.

Shared Spaces

Shared Game Room:
Guests may enjoy the shared game room with a pool table and TV. Please treat the space respectfully, clean up after use, and be mindful that this area may be shared with guests from the neighboring home.

Outdoor Area:
Guests are welcome to enjoy the turf area, cornhole, outdoor seating, grill, and gas firepit. Please clean up after use, supervise children, and turn off the grill/firepit when finished.

Parking

Guests may use the available parking areas, including the garage stall, driveway, and street parking where permitted. Please do not block neighboring driveways, sidewalks, garages, or access points.

During Your Stay

Respect the Home:
Please treat the property with care. Excessive mess, damages, missing items, or misuse of the home may result in additional charges.

Kitchen Use:
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and provided cooking items. Please clean up after cooking and dispose of food/trash properly.

Trash:
Please place trash in the designated bins and make sure trash bags are properly secured.

Streaming & Entertainment:
Guests may use the Smart TV and streaming options available. Please log out of any personal accounts before check-out.

Safety

Please do not tamper with smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, or any other safety equipment.

Please lock all doors and windows when leaving the property and at check-out.

Report any maintenance issues, damages, or concerns as soon as possible so our team can help quickly.

Check-Out Reminder

Before leaving, please gather your belongings, dispose of trash properly, turn off lights and appliances, return shared spaces to the condition you found them, and make sure the home is secured.
