The hosts did such a great job on the renovation and everything you could ever need is included. The pictures are very much representative of how the unit actually is furnished. SO cute and comfortable. Super bonus is the W/D in the unit. We used the dryer daily for our gloves. Game changer. Ballhooter is literally a stone's throw from the unit, it's easy access to that as well as the parking lot. There is a side door to the parking lot so you don't have to go through the crowded lobby when trying to load/unload your vehicle. There were even carts near that access door so the only time you had to go into the lobby was to check-in. Next year (2025) there will be a gate on the balcony so you can hit the slopes directly from the unit. Even though that wasn't in place this year, you're so close to the back door of Mountain Lodge to gain access to the slopes, that it didn't matter. For reference to how close it is to Ballhooter, you can almost reach out and touch the Waffle Cabin from the unit's balcony. And bonus smells. :) When we were heading out for the day, we would put our skis and poles on the balcony and then grab them before heading to the lifts. When we were done for the day, we would stick them on the balcony again and then bring them back inside once inside the unit. It just saves you from lugging them any futher than you need to.
In the entry hallway, the ski/board holder thingies are really nice and they even have a little cubby box for other random stuff (sunglasses, goggles, etc.). AND appropriate hooks for your jackets and pants so you don't have to drape them in the bathroom, on beds, chairs, etc. They also have a boot tray to keep the melted snow in check. I also love that the floors are not carpet. Carpet is so gross.
The fireplace is a nice touch and it does actually put off heat, but only if you want it to. The smart TV was great - you can keep up with whatever you're streaming at home after playing outside all day.
It was just my sister and myself staying in this unit, but I can see this working for many more people very well. One bedroom is huge and has 2 queen-sized beds. The second bedroom has a king-sized bed and then there is also a pull-out couch. Both bathrooms are small but that is the case with all units in Mountain Lodge. They are totally fine to shower, the unit is big enough to get ready elsewhere. We would actually brush hair and finish getting ready in the living room - the hosts thoughtfully included a small mirror in the living room. The toilet seats are heated! I didn't even know I needed that but now I couldn't imagine NOT having heated toilet seats after being in the cold all day! Both bathrooms have vanities that allow you to actually store your bathroom stuff. The shower heads are also removable, which I love. I have the same at home. It was definitely a woman that led the charge on the design and appointments.
Any outlet that I came across had a USB adapter and there were ample available so you didn't have to unplug a lamp or something just to charge your stuff. Nowadays, we have so many things that need to charge, this was a very pleasant surprise.
The kitchen is VERY well-stocked with anything you could need. We made breakfast and dinner in the unit every day and ate lunch somewhere on the mountain. There was a very informational welcome note left with regard to wifi and such. I also think this unit is much cooler than other units that we've stayed because it's on the first floor (heat rises after all).
I didn't need to reach out to the host while we were staying there because everything was so well appointed. However, up to the trip, any time I had to reach out to the host, she was incredibly responsive.
My ONLY "complaint" would be the lighting for the kitchen/living room. There is one, blinding light in the center of the living room. If it wasn't on, the kitchen was dark at night which made making dinner a challenge. We kept that light off for the most part and just used the cute corner lamp to light the living room. Now that I'm writing this out, we totally could have moved that lamp closer to the kitchen...
If you're even considering this unit, just book it. It is well worth it. My sister and I have been staying at Mountain Lodge for our annual ski trip together for 8+ years. We've never booked the same unit twice until this one - we already booked this same unit for our 2025 trip.
