Family-friendly seter cabin near Makalaus peak

This mountain farm experience offers magical mountain mornings and winter evenings under the northern lights. The cabin is built with recycled materials from the old mountain farm, and large windows bring nature into the living room. There is room for young and old alike, and the kids can play on their own in the loft.



The ground floor has underfloor heating, but you can light a fire for extra coziness. The loft is perfect for children – four kids can sleep and play together here, separated from the rest of the cabin by a door. The kitchen table is a natural gathering place for meals and board games, while the fireplace creates cozy evenings.



Around the cabin there are several outdoor areas where you can grill sausages, make coffee or just enjoy the view. In summer, the kids can collect water from the stream and explore nature, while winter offers opportunities for sledding and snow caves. The starry sky is spectacular here with no disturbing lights.



Just below is a lake for swimming and fishing, including ice fishing in winter. The hike to Makalaus at 1099 meters above sea level takes 1.5 hours and is suitable for all ages – here you can see into Jotunheimen. The cross-country ski trail starts above the cabin, and Stavadalen Ski Center is a short distance away. Aurdal town has a bakery, grocery store, and restaurant.
